Yeah cause you’re totally set with Geekie, Zacha and Brown at Center as well as being in cap hell without signing your RFA goalie… good luck with that though. Why take a Selke candidate center to fill a spot. Lol.

Cap hell? Lol. They have 7m to sign Sway and Freddy. They are just fine.

They need a #1. Backlund is not. They are set at 2/3. Creating a hole to fix nothing is kind of dumb.

The Boston fans are fools who never read NHL news outside rumours from Boston, and think the salary cap works like the NBA and NFL…it’s a hard cap and they are not set at all.

All of the trades make sense, but maybe a bit light on return to Calgary in the Boston and Toronto trades! Great job! As for Boston fans, apparently they think unproven Lysell is just like McDavid lmao

Put it this way, take out Grz AND Lysell, still wouldnt trade a 5th for Backlund + Gilbert. BOS doesnt need a 34yo 3C and an 8th Dman, let alone trading away a top 4 LD + one of their top prospects

Bruins are fine financially now, your argument of having no cap space with weak Centre depth is false and doest justify trading for Backlund who Flames are trying to get rid of

Bedard/ fantilli/ carlsson are unproven, all of them haven’t played a damn game in the nhl yet. You think their respective teams are gonna move them for backlund?

Mcdavid at one point hadn’t played an NHL game you think they would had moved him for backlund because he’s proven?

Lysell shows potential and for a team that needs to get younger and is about to retool until he proves us wrong he will hold a lot of value for us.

How about Boston counters with Matthew Coronato for Charlie Coyle, sounds fair you know because coyle is a “proven” shutdown 3C

The poverty flames and their tiny fan base make me laugh

They think their 25th ranked fan base by size can out hockey bruins ranked 2nd in size fan base

It has nothing to do with Lysell value, it has to do with need. They simply don’t want or need a 34 year old middle 6 rental center they won’t extend and are not giving up pieces they do need for 1. It’s piss poor roster management.

Lindholm on the other hand…1st/Lysell/Grizz… or something similar, B’s are all in.

As far as cap goes they have 6.2m currently. But Wotherspoon and Megna are not going to be with big club so it’s closer to 8.

Sway and Freddy are going to take roughly 6.

So you both your logic and your math makes your claim under your avatar false advertising. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I should have said that would extend Backlund for 2 years to make a Cup run in Boston. He’s as fit as any 28 year old and is close to Bergeron in 2-way play…and availability is there perhaps….people who watch the Western Conference know this stuff is true and you can check stats, advanced stats, and Selke voting as well.

The math works with retention mentioned….You could do worse than Backlund…and yes, If they trade for him Boston would certainly extend Backlund (who is younger than Bergeron and Krejci) for 2-3 years to make a Cup run in Boston. He’s still very fit (tests high annually) and gets Selke votes and scores points and is well-known to make linemates better….people who watch the Western Conference know and you can see stats, advanced stats, TSN.ca scouting reports, and Selke voting as well.

They won’t extend him. Period. Would be purely a rental, no interest. Sorry. But you are wrong.

Terrible fit for what they are trying to do.

DK’s replacement is in house. Zacha.

They signed Geekie a young C with decent upside to fill out their top 9 if nothing else is done.

What they need is a 5 year C1. That is not Backlund. He’s a band-aid. They need stitches. And they are not giving up any of the few decent prospects they have for a band-aid that’s going to come off in the shower (next offseason).

That could work but honestly Geekie is just ok as per games I have seen with Seattle, Backlund could fill in at 1C, and is not falling off badly soon…he’s more like Bergeron as an “always fit” guy, you would be safe with him for 3 years. But of course the trade needs to work. Boston could want to win it all still this year, and Backlund helps there. Thanks for the discussion!

Poverty and tiny fan base LMAO at your sincere ignorance. Calgary is not 25th in fan base, but 10th as population is far different than fan base. It’s also a wealthy oil city, more importantly has 9th highest revenues in NHL as hockey is #1 in Canada; all Canadian teams are top 15 in revenue even with some small populations, as most people know. Also Calgary is a great place to live, top 3 or 7 in ENTIRE WORLD per Forbes and another annual survey
