Not signing on day 1 of free agency is nothing to worry about. Some guys go the entire summer looking for the right situation. I doubt CHI is the "right situation" he is looking for. Also, our forward group is already loaded with players.

As far as "not liking Bertuzzi for one reason or another", that is an especially important consideration right now for CHI. Even if you separate his dumb social and political views from the equation, bringing a player in that is just looking for a bag of cash and using CHI as a stepping stone, is the opposite kind of thing you want to bring into an organization at this stage. Which is why they have mostly brought in older vets and leaders nearing the end of their NHL careers that don't have ulterior motives. They are being very specific about who they want to expose these young minds to, and Bert is the opposite of that. So, I just don't see them doing that. But, I could absolutely be wrong. I have certainly been wrong before, and I will be wrong again.

I can see pro & con view points for signing Bertuzzi. I am in the con camp. Goal of next year (I believe) is to get the kids pointed in the right direction but still end up with a potential lottery pick. I don’t think Bertuzzi is the best fit for either of those things.
If we only sign 1 more player I would prefer a center to take some of the pressure off of Bedard, for his line to carry the offense this year.

Not the kind of player we should be signing. The forward core is pretty crowded and I’d focus on a 3rd pairing d man. Cal Foote seems like a good fit

I'm surprised they didn't buyout Zaitsev yet. I guess they still could, though. But yeah, I had the same though. Cal Foote could be a good signing. I also thought maybe supporting Bear through his recovery and then having a spot for him when he is ready, could be interesting and also could be a nice trade chip for the TDL if he comes back strong.
