Sign Compher, another Michigan boy, as he's an offseason training partner with Werenski and Fantilli. He plays on a line with Fantilli to get him acclimated. If Fantilli can move up, Compher can be a 2/3C but is going to be a bit overpaid. $5.7 million is too much, but the JT Compher contract is an EvolvingHockey projection.
Ideally, Roslovic+ is traded for a righty winger(or C) that can be a long term fit with Laine. In this scenario, we are trying to maximize the value for Roslovic, who is a pending UFA winger and whose signing preferences are unknown. We are going to play him in favorable situations in a hope to inflate his numbers and move him at the TDL where there will be a bigger market for his services at a very small cap-hit.
Ideally, we get a veteran play connector to insulate Sillinger. That can be Danforth, but we would need a lot of shuffling in the bottom 6 to make it work. For my money, Kuraly can go. Ideally, he moves up to the NHL after Roslovic and/or Kuraly are moved at the TDL. Boqvist, Bean (or Peeke if not traded) can then be moved at the TDL if Jiricek/Svozil look ready.
The following offseason we make a bigger move for an RW/C when Fantilli/Sillinger are closer to ready for Top 6 spots and/or we'll know if Laine is a C.
Chinakov, Sillinger, Bemstrom, Jiricek are all starting in the AHL in this scenario. Chinakov, Sillinger both feel like they should be playing in the NHL, but I just have a hard time finding room for them on the roster.
I would keep Peeke and trade Bean and Boqvist away, I do think that Compher would be a great veteran addition but i dont think Jack should be #2 center put Johnson there.
I think the logic is sound but I don't think they're going to give a guy (Compher) that kind of contract unless he's an absolute lock in the top 6. Just can't be paying a 3rd line guy 5.7 mil when you already have Gudbrandson getting 4 mil. I have a feeling they could get a "free center" similar to the Johansen deal or maybe they bring in a guy like Josh Bailey at a lower cap hit. With Marchenko and Johnson getting likely top 6 money in the not-so-distant future that extra cap cushion is really important

I agree, this is just the Evolving Hockey projection. Compher is right handed, and Roslovic is our only other righty center, and plays defense. This makes him a good insulator. I would defintiely prefer to not pay that much for a 30-40 point center, but the market is what it is.
KJ is probably going to get bridged to the other side of Laine/Jenner contracts, so I don't know when he's actually going to get Top 6 money. Marchenko certainly could be sooner rather than later.

Jack is just at 2C so that we can pump up his value before a trade.
These lines shows that the clock has struck midnight for Roslovic. He’s legit a 3rd line winger now for this team but really I don’t think he makes it past the next two weeks for this team.

I don't think so either but if we can concoct a scheme to boost his value by the TDL, where his half-retained $2 million contract would look attractive to a capped team, that might be the value play. HIs value as an asset is much higher as a rental. The team trading for him will want to see if he isn't the defensive black-hole that he was here and he might want to hit free agency.
I'll probably do another where we move him soon but I imagine Jarmo has a trade for a center before free agency anyway.
