Shaggy now signed at 3.1M so just 1 trade, Phillips on 1-way, 3 former AHL are 4th line that scores, more guys re-signed for AHL, Stone back but in AHL, and done! All lines score, Backs line also checks the opposing big lines. Cap room left for saving cheap owner some $ and later-season moves by deadline if Flames look strong to make playoffs.

Phillips isn't an NHL winger let alone a center. Vladar will be moved, I like Chatfield as a target, don't know if Carolina moves on from high quality, low cost controllable pieces in their window and Calgary wil lhave better offers.

Definitely and we have no place to put an LHD in our top 4 unless Skjei is moving out. I don't see Hanifan to Carolina. Wouldn't mind it. But don't see it.

Flames (well, Sutter) have treated Phillips badly so I think they overpay to keep him a bit as Conroy (now GM) lobbied to draft him 6 years ago…he does play Centre and RW…either place with Ruzicka a C option. Phillips needs a chance to prove himself so Flames may do this….

Lol, well enjoy! Note most players signed were to fill out AHL and also NHL depth but Flames cheap owners may insist on being a few million below the cap as playoffs may be unlikely

But why overpay a guy whose game doesn't really translate to the pro level? He is mucky in corners, steals a lot of pucks and plays deep in the OZone in the AHL, there are D men that can't stop that at that level, he's not good at avoiding contact, he's not good at finding open space and severely lacks a game from the red line back to his own end. All of that is emphasized at the center ice position, paying 975K for an AHL lifer because a fan base feels bad for him would be a huge mistake.
