Neither Mayfield nor Soucy are signing for that cheap; ERod, either. We all know Lindholm is a great player but how do they afford him after this season, especially if Landy comes back? And that bottom six does not look any better than what they had this year which was a problem.

As for lindholm. Just going off this roster, they will have 24 million in cap space, plus the cap is suppose to go up by 4 million.

Agreed. Also, in addition to the value of the picks from the Hawks likely being too much, I want to see what Kurashev turns into! He's Luke's "swiss army knife;" does whatever is needed for the team. This year could be a breakout year for him, IMO.

But the Hawks probably aren’t going to be competing for another 2-3 years minimum. By the time they get to the point where a player like Girard is useful, he’ll be in his late 20s and looking to get paid. I’m sure he’s going to want good money on a long term deal, and that going to be a problem as that’s when guys like Bedard are going to be coming off their ELCs. Just not worth the cost of valuable draft capital and prospects.

I like Girard but Chicago declines that.
