"Rebuilding" a team means taking a group of veteran, but (mostly) mediocre players, and trading them for younger, unproven players, in the hope that the younger players will collectively "grow" into something better than what you started out with.

Trading a 23 year old speedster and a couple of higher end draft picks for aging spare parts and a lesser draft pick is the opposite of what the Hawks are trying to accomplish.

Because we aren't going to pay to help Boston out of their cap troubles. Especially not for players we don't need that add no value to our rebuild. Not sure what is so difficult to understand about that.

Edit: even if I were to consider the value of this trade in a vacuum, I wouldn't pay a 2nd and a 3rd for Hall and Grz.

Fredric is decent but I think the blues won't do it because we have so many wingers already. We already have Saad, Buch, Kyrou, Vrana, Kapanen, Blais, and Neighbors as our top 9 wingers. There not really incentive for us to add another middle six winger at the expense of trying to fix the defense first. Saad, Buch. Kyrou, Vrana are already penciled in as the top 6 wingers. Kapanen and Blais are probably the 3rd line wingers and it doesn't make sense to bump them down to the 4th line.

Gryz is an undersized pending UFA that the Hawks definitely wouldn't resign. Hawks are totally the wrong team to target in a Gryz trade if B's want value back. So that leaves Kurashev, a 2nd and 3rd for Hall and a 4th. Hawks aren't paying all that. Hawks would probably take Hall, but the return to the B's won't be that much. More like a 3rd and a lesser F like Anderson, Entwistle or Bjork.
