Konecny just came off his best year and is almost $1.5mil cheaper than Nylander with an extra year. Flyers will get more for him trading him this summer than Nylander at the TDL.

I know this is armchair gm and all of the leafs players are trash on here but Nylander has been consistently scoring 30 plus goals for the past 3 years and the past two years has scores 80 plus points. Last year scored 40 goals. Every team in the nhl will choose Nylander with his cap hit over Konecny and his cap hit. They are two different styles of players so if a team is cap strapped and needs more grit then yes, Konecny is their guy. But don’t worry, throw in a 1st rp and that should sort that out lol

I’m not discrediting Nylander and his skill. Guy is the only one who consistently performs in the playoffs for them. But you need to look at what the Flyers are trying to do and find a match. Sending Konecny with retention for Nylander they still won’t take, because the end goal is to get high picks (especially in this loaded draft), so this adds more chores for the Flyers to turn these players into other assets.

Reports say both Konecny and Laughton can fetch 1sts in their own deals, that’s a much better way to get value then the deal above.

The trade doesn’t make sense for the Flyers, simple as that.

I don't think the trade rental market is representative for on-ice production. I highly doubt any contending team is willing and able to give out the same value for Nylander at the TDL compared to them keeping TK and Laughton and trading them individually. Rarely do teams give out 2 first round picks at the deadline for a pure rental. Can't imagine someone would do 3+
