Calgary says no to the exchange of upcoming UFA....if they have to give up a first also. Leafs shouldn't be trading Liljegren for one year of Pesce straight up, never mind giving up a first. San Jose says no. Leafs shouldn't be trading Timmins in they nothing in return. McCain isn't a first liner, so Leafs don't give up a first to get him.

Pesce is an upgrade... he's the kind of defensive guy that the leafs need

The flames can easily extend him.

Leafs can easily extend pesce and pesce is way better the Liljegren and that’s probably what a top 4 guy like pesce costs maybe slightly too much

Why wouldn’t the sharks say yes. They get a 3rd and a good prospect that’s nhl ready

Timmins is a Dubas guy can’t see tree seeing him as part of the future. Schenn at 1mil or Timmins at 1mil. For a winning now team it’s definitely Schenn

We didn’t think bunting was a 1st liner but when he came in that’s where go showed he could play. McBain is young and still growing. He’s already shown more promise than bunting ever did. Who knows, maybe he’s a 3rd liner for now but in the futon can see him being a great complimentary player to skill players

Really? I know Leaf fans and Leaf haters think the Leafs are so poor defensively. Gee, the Leafs allowed just 10 more goals than the Canes last season. Difference in 2.6m in next year cap over the two Dmen which the Leafs need. Liligren has three years of control, Pesce one. And to expect the Leafs to give up a first also.

Just extend him. Ur hoping Liljegren turns into something like pesce but he never will cause he’s not 6’3. Liljegren wasn’t even in the playoff lineup every game

Don't think you understand UFAs when you a team "can easily extend". It's the players choice where he plays.....not up to the team if they easily extend.
Is Pesce THAT much better than Lilijgren. Let's talk the here and now.

I mean it isn't just that Pesce is a better defensive defenseman but he also produces more offense than Liligren. Your giving the Hurricanes a down grade so some extra payment would be expected to be going with Liligren

Yes, he is... Pesce is an above-average defenseman while Liligreen is a 3rd pairing guy at best... I know who I'd rather have

Yes he is way way way better. And yes if during the process pesce says he wouldn’t sign in Toronto you just wouldn’t do the trade

You're right wasn't that terrible coaching or order from Dubas to play McCabe and Holl were dreadful to the playoffs and not Liljegren who was certainly OK. Size isn't everything. It's isn't like Lilijgren was sheltered last season when he played 18 minters a game. Take a lot at his stats, are they that much different than Pesce's?

Don't think you understand the concept of "UFAs"....when say "just extend him"

So, the Canes tell Pesce he can negotiate a contract with the Leafs so he can be traded. And if can't reach an agreement he's welcome back to be a Cane. LOL. That doesn't happen, but somehow it's become "the norm" on CapFriendly.

While I totally agree that Pesce is overrated, if you can get him for your 2nd pair without losing a major roster piece, I am not sure you can say no. He's definitely a big upgrade over Liljegren, maybe one day he really finds his way but he hasn't yet.

Pesce plays 22minutes of hard matchups. Also if size isn’t everything I assume u just stop watching the playoffs after the leafs get out cause I’m pretty sure every Stanley cup winning team the average size on defence is like 6’2” 210 pounds

It actually does happen. Ur aloud to grant player’s permission to speak with teams and when talking to a player when trading him the team can ask would u sign in Toronto. If he says yes then good if he says no then no trade
