What this team will probs look like

Créé par: aadoyle
Équipe: 2023-24 Maple Leafs de Toronto
Date de création initiale: 8 juin 2023

Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
If they keep the core 4 this is what I think will occur.

Murray gets sent to Arizona for a third who then proceed to buy him out. Peterson costed a 2nd with 2 years left so Murray at one year and a cheap buyout arguably costs a third

Timmins now that Dubas is gone may be out the door if Tree decides to upgrade the Dcore moving him and bringing in Soucy makes sense. So best to reunite him with his former GM

For forwards guys like Bertuzzi, Rodrigues, and Bleuger make to much sense to target. As for extensions Schenn and Acciari are logical.

Why does everyone want to trade Timmins all of a sudden. He was a great defenceman last year, just didn't really get a chance to show it due to a stacked blueline.

Timmins really doesnt have a spot on this team and was a Dubas reclimation project. The sample size is small and we dont know if he will stay healthy as he has had injury issues. Better to move on and get some value and then use the space to upgrade over Gio with someone like Soucy cause we got a new GM and he will probably look to add to the Dcore which means most likely pressbox for him

Cause even if we keep him and dont get Soucy, Dcore is

    Rielly-Schenn (gonna get extended)

I wouldn’t be so sure that Schenn gets extended.

Treliving has wanted Schenn since his days in CGY. Schenn wants to stay here

Its a match made in heaven. Only issue is the asking price

If u give Schenn more term u can lower the cap hit which is why I gave him 4 years in comparison with most people giving him 2. He sucks in the third or fourth year press box or burry

Honestly with the disrespect of only giving him 1.1M and then expecting him to do 1st pairing duties....I hope he runs outta there...

The projection has him 1.5 mill x 1 year. Nobody will give him that on more than 2 years = 3mill and then after he will make league min again if he doesnt retire.

Plus the guy wants term and when u ask for term often the cap hits lower.

On a 1.1 x 4 year deal he will make 4.4mill and retire happy as he will have stability and a home for more than a year

He wants to stay and they have mututal interest take the term on a lower cap and move along

As nobody is giving him 2+ mill long term deal

No one should be giving him more then 2 years, period. So why would the leafs?

2years x 1.8-2.1M is probably where he ends up if he's got a good agent , he's had 2 consecutive and progressively better years in a row...it's his last chance to make money. And no team should give him more then 2years. No team.

Giving him 4 years allows the contract to be lower and with that cap hit buriable

Why give him 1.8-2.1mill when u can just give him less on a longer deal. With this deal year 3 or 4 he sucks u can burry with 0 cap consequence. If he sucks and gets what u suggested teams cant bury him without a cap penalty. Hes already said he wants term and wants to stay so Leafs can oblige and work in a lower cap hit as if he signs that deal he can stay and be well secured for an extra 2 years while leafs can a guy on a buriable contract. As in the end he makes 4.4mill and stays till hes 37. If he wants that kind of money bye as u can get similar guys for less.
