No from the Canucks we aren't giving up picks for players we could get in the UFA market.

we would take 2 7th picks if this can cool your mind a bit, but Edmundson could help your team chemistry building cuz he is a real leader.

We just got capspace right now the Canucks are worried about getting a quality top 4 dman ie Orlov or Ryan Graves.
Also we need a 3C and a back up goalie but a bottom pair dman for 3 million is the least of our concern. I think Chicago,Anahiem,Arizona, and Buffalo make much more sense.

I wouldn’t give up that much for PLD, the Jets don’t have very much leverage if he’s as serious about not signing with them and signing in MTL as rumours say, he’ll probably cost something but not that much. Also wouldn’t pay him that much because I don’t think he’s actually very good. I also disagree with the idea of trading that many picks and prospects because this team is still not ready to compete and the players you’re trading for aren’t really needed at this point. Not sure about that return for Keller but I’m not too familiar with the guy.

that seem to be a big price to loose that many rookies but we would be entering phase 2 of our rebuild and try a pitch at a playoff run. As for Keller : read this

I think that the commentary that the Jets have no leverage should be fading since it's been reported that Dubois' agent is working with a list of 5-6 teams to find a deal. With the players MTL has declared as "untouchable" I assume someone like LA will make a better deal than expected. The constant inclusion of Dvorak in proposed trades shows that MTL-WPG shows that these two teams are not a good trade match.

the 9 millions + asking contract should stop any team from that supposed list. Therefore as previously said JETS has no leverage AT ALL .... As for LA they will be looking for a goaltender they rather take a chance with Hellebuyck than play poker on PLD.

Yeah, I like the idea of adding both Keller and PLD but IMO without also fixing the D we will be eaten alive come playoff time. Now maybe I am wrong, maybe Eddy comes back healthy and finds chemistry with Guhle or Barron on the 2nd pairing, if that's the case then we look much much better, I just worry about Eddy's back.

should we assess that by TDL or next summer ?! With that forward corp we can build further on defense first as you mentioned in the @Jonh514 AGM. For Eddy I'd rather trade him now and get whatever we can.

2 questions for this thread first

1. Why trade the younger cheaper Evans for Faska? Evans is a good solid defensive center who wins faceoffs and provides energy. Perfect for the 4th line role.

2. Do you think Mailloux is ready for the NHL? He still has a lot of work to do on the defensive side of the puck.

I think if you are making these moves for those 2 players in the offseason, you had better have a plan in place for the D already cause it means that you are looking to make the playoffs this year.

To answer you

1 - Faksa is more balanced to play along the wall and got more size at the dot.

2 - Not sure for Mailloux but I want to show the league as we did with the other youngster and if he fits well keep him and try to use him to get Rasmus Andersson from Calgary at TDL.

And yes i've plan to do more trade for RHD in the 10 months to come or so to asses the disbalanced corp that we have.

That is a massive offer for Keller when including the 5th overall pick. Keller already making noise about wanting out. Definitely not the worst idea. Still dont like them trying to compete this year in that division. I'd wait another year or two. Keep the picks. They have a ton of money coming off the books in 2025 and the cap should rise another 10 million. I love Keller and he's the type of scorer theyd hope a guy like Will Smith or Fantilli would become but the timing worries me.
How much dead cap can Arizona really take on. Wouldn't take be over 70 million team total in dead cap going forward after taking Price next 3 years? Embarrassing.

I know it's hard to go at it right now, but we need to bring some long term now for the forward while building the RHD and Goaltending. If we want a cup in 2025 we need to see how far those Suzuki Dach and Caufield can go with a second scoring trio like PLD and Keller. They need to change the cycle and they have many thing in hand to do so. Yeah this is a huge price for Keller but he is a great 200 feet 30+ goals player. For Arizona I guess every penny they send there is a penny for a future sell to any of San diego Houston Salt lake city who want them... getting numerous young quality hihg picks can defenitly help them to solve their situation too.

1. Faska is bigger and does win more faceoffs but Evans is no slouch at the dot either and puts up more points and depth scoring in the playoffs is a major asset. Plus his contract is half as much as Faska's.

2. I am ok with trying Mailloux and running a young D but if you are going to do that then you have to keep Eddy in case things go south IMO. Like I said previously though, making the Keller and PLD moves means you are pushing for a playoff spot, not fixing the D right away, seriously hinders that objective. Now the caveat is that we could be ok with some form of Matheson, Guhle, Edmundson, Harris, Savard, Xhekaj, Barron and Kovacevic providing the young guys step up their game again and Eddy is healthy. The question is can they and will Eddy be healthy?

1- I love but like crazy love Faksa. For me : Laughton, Faksa and Scissons are all guy like Lehkonen who could really be a key mark on a winning team ... 200 feet madness players. I know that Evans is paid to a lesser contract but the injury list give me chill.

2 - we need a healthy team. Ed is a great leader but we need to move on. And if we fall and say still be in the last 10 we keep 2024 pick wich can bring a young great RHD (cuz there is supposed to be some in the top ten : Zayne Parekh, Henry Mews, Artyom Artem Levshunov or top 20 : Adam Jiricek ...)

This is why NOT drafting Reinbacher @5OA or going after a Pesce would be a mistake. To me, Reinbacher would be another Pesce and we can see how valuable that asset is on the open market even with a year of term and a big raise on the horizon in 2024 at 7-8M AAV

Like who? You lost OEL. Bear is injured til at least December. Luke Schenn isnt coming back. Edmundson only makes 3.5M and you arent finding that on the market.

could try to get Andrew Peeke too. And there is a lot of RHD next summer. Actually getting another or 2 25+ goals scorers with 2way game is defenitly my objective.

You can always find scoring wingers. Boeser/Garland have been available for free without any takers. Marchessault was given away by Florida and just won the Conn Smythe.
It comes down to scarcity.

You're talking like that Canucks fan. Being available on the market and willing to sign in Mtl are two different things, entirely.

Fair but i've heard enough players say they love not being bothered and anonymous in the USA. Too many players unless drastically overpaid wont play in Canada. Sponsorships are also scarce now in Canada and why gambling has taken such a foothold on cable tv with few dollars in marketing at the networks disposable.

Canadian economy is evolving and for hockey this is starting to change ... MTL been a big city can help to offer better services too.
