<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MONSTER1974</b></div><div>I think between Mailloux and Reinbacher, we are already set for a 2nd pairing d-man.

However, if KH sees a minute eating monster of a first pairing RD in Reinbacher, then maybe Hronek looks good on a second pairing.

Things just don’t seem to match up well though.

I think we need more of a shutdown RD to play with Hutson, provided we play Guhle &amp; Reinbacher on the top pairing.

If Hutson &amp; Reinbacher are a duo, I’m not sure Hronek is the guy you want on your 1st pairing with Guhle to try and counter the opposition’s best.</div></div>

I agree with the questions that come out when trying to project the future Habs. At the same time, I simply don't believe a team can win in the playoffs with a bunch of 20-25 year old defenders. I think you want a couple of 29-33 year old guys who can keep calm and lead the charge.

While I like Mailloux &amp; Reinbacher's future and believe they both will be really good defenders, depth is important, not just in case of injuries, but in the sense of creating internal competition.

If Reinbacher becomes a top pair guy, let it be because he beat out Hronek &amp; Mailloux (and possibly Guhle) for the job.

If Mailloux becomes a 2nd pair defender, let it be because he beat out Hronek.

If Hutson is gonna be on PP1, let it be because he beat out Matheson...

Personally I would love to see a pair of Matheson &amp; Hronek out there. I think the transition play would be really fun to watch!

Next year we could expect:

Matheson Hronek
Hutson Guhle
Xhekaj Savard
Struble Harris

and we should trade Barron &amp; Kovacevic
