Why retain 2 mil on Granny when the buyout is 833k this yr and 1.8 or smth next... ik the buyout then goes another 2 yrs, but there is zero chance we're remotely competitive at that point lol

Why give up assets for a player that is going to get bought out / has a ton of comps on the FA market at the same / lower price?

Depends on if you think you can sign him for less than 3M on the FA market after a buyout. I like Granlund as a 3C for the Avs, preferably at 2.5M or lower if he hits FA. But he doesn't fill the Avs biggest need.

And if he is going to be 3C for the Avs, that means Newhook is viewed more as a wing, or is involved in a trade for 2C.
