UFAs if landy can play

Description
Mostly bringing in a couple UFA's to make room if landy comes back next year.

i've seen wheeler and mantha trades so either could be swapped in that spot, mostly that player can make 4 mil max so there'd have to be retention there with anyone mostly.

Hopefully newhook can take a step up and take 2C if not we can give laughton or drouin a try, heck even wheeler has a C for his positin. there's a few options maybe we don't go after edmunson if 2C is still struggling and use that money for a 2C retained for a run.

Essentially this leaves us with enough money next year with expiring UFA's if landy comes back, and we can fit toews under contract hopefully something around 7.25x7

Laughton is worth a 1st + decent prospect. Not an undrafted guy and a 5th. The 1st is fine but needs another decent guy to go with it

Who wanted Drouin at the TDL? All those posts were from Montreal fans.

If he’s cheap and doesn’t require any assets to acquire, I’m down for a reclamation project.

My mistake. I initially wrote "wanted Drouin" but with the intention of saying "didn't want Drouin". I just edited my post.

Of course he's much cheaper as a UFA and as a rehabilitation project. I just remember last spring when Habs fans were proposing Drouin to COL at 50% retained and the comments were not targeting the cost for the trade but Drouin as a player.

Not all of us! I was pretty clear that there was zero point in trading assets for him but that if and when he hit FA the Avs should take a punt on him if the price was right as a reclamation project. Pretty sure numerous others said the same. There's a HUGE difference between being willing to give up the assets MTL fans wanted and disliking the player altogether.

He's a very good player but he struggled with Montreal's pressure. With a roster like yours the spotlight won't be on him and I'm sure he will thrive.

Agreed with @TJTwolf completely. I was someone they didn’t want Drouin at 50% retained, especially if you had to deal a pick to get him. Cheaper and more reliable options were on the market.

I loved Drouin in his draft year. But he hasn’t been that player for a while. If he wanted to do a PTO or a cheap 1 year that’d be fun. Doubt it works out, but still fun.
