How does Montreal feel about Dvorak

Créé par: SGB88

Description
Dvorak gets reunited with an old coach. Who got lots out of him in the past? Montreal gets to shed salary for 24/25 a year where it's more relevant to them.

Canucks get to dump a little cap for next year when the really need and get a 3rd line center who is overpaid, but with cap savings from trade and what it would cost for a similar free agent isn't that bad.

The trade could take place before or after the Myers bonus. Montreal could probably flip Myers post bonus if they wanted to or at the trade deadline with retention if they want.

Who needs to add to this trade and how much in terms of draft picks or is so far apart that it's undoable.

This certainly helps them be not good though. Myers is terrible, unless he's your 6th dman making 1.5 or something. Dvorak is nothing special but he's at least serviceable.

Vancouver would need to add here. Myers is horrible and it will cost you to move him.

Sorry, for some reason my description didn't get published. It was about Montreal trading 2024/24 salary for salary next season which I thought they would value. Also potential to flip Myers this year. Curious what you think the Canucks would need to add to make this work if you think it could work. I guess Myers could go elsewhere. Would Montreal trade Dvorak and do you think it would cost them or would they need a return?

Dvorak as Canucks 3c just makes so much sense to me if Montreal doesn't really want him which was the impression I get.

My understanding is Dvorak is also currently negative value. I just thought getting cap off the books for 24/25 for Montreal would be valuable so it's a swap of negative value I thought that made sense.

I think Myers gets flipped else where. I think Montreal will move Dvorak especially if they get Dubois next year. Dvorak for a Boeser trade make sense? I dnt think Montreal cares for the cap space when they already have price on LTIR...

Vancouver would have to add here. Dvorak hasn't been great for Montreal, but he still has positive value. Myers is a pure cap dump, so if you want a 1 for 1 swap with Montreal, Armia would be the guy going the other way.

I don't think they'll be looking to move him for the sake of moving him and freeing space. If someone offers at least a 2nd, which I doubt, I think it could entice him but otherwise they don't have anyone to play 3C and take the hardest matchups.

I wouldn't say negative value, just not anywhere near what they paid to get him.

Dvorak still has value. Not the best use of cap space for a contender, but middle to bottom teams he's a decent all-rounder. He's been lacking a scoring touch in Montreal and much more production was expected, but they need the insulation at center right now, so no pressing desire to move him.

Myers on the other hand, they don't need at all. They would take him in a deal, but only if it included something along the lines of a 2nd and Woo (ish), where Montreal pays Myers' signing bonus so Vancouver can allocate those dollars to someone that will turn in a better performance.

This is all with the caveat that Dvorak is currently injured, so the pick would probably need to have conditions attached (games played).

Your impression and understanding is wrong.

Has only 4 NHL centers, no prospect ready to step up (talks of Beck in europe for a year) plenty of cap space and Dvorak is a good defensive/faceoff center with a respectable contract.

No reason to trade him, except for cap relief in a trade for a $9M center wink

And Myers is awfull + overpaid.

I do have the feeling that Dvo will get moove in a possibely Dubois trade?

Also strictely to your idea, Dvo has value, Myers not only doesn't have value, but he's not usefull on the team rn

To dump him you need at least a 2nd round pick, with dvo, either a prospect or you add annother dump to get the 2023 1rst (Like Garlund)

At this point, D-vo is what he is. He's good for about 0.5 PPG, quite decent on faceoffs and actually pretty sound defensively. (As for +/-, look at the teams he has played for.) Just checking, I was surprised to see he's 6'1". He certainly plays much smaller. I can't recall anytime he has imposed himself physically.

I think there was some undue offensive expectations based on his numbers with the Knights in junior. (I guess playing between Marner and Tkachuk can do that.) The Coyotes extended him probably expecting he would grow into the contract but he has not. Not the way someone like say, Kotkaniemi seems to be growing into his contract.

Given that he has been playing with some awful teams without much support, D-vo has been alright. One thing he has been is consistent. It's just that there's really not much difference between his ceiling and his floor. That could be seen as a positive or a negative.

Ideally, he would come in around Lars Eller territory salary-wise (i.e. about $3M.) Thus Christian Dvorak is overpaid, but not massively so.

I agree. Any team in salary cap difficulties would be unwise to take on Dvorak (unless the transaction provides coinciding cap advantages.)

Furthermore, if you're looking for more of a defensive specialist, a Radek Faksa type guy would seem more suitable. Someone with size and strength to take charge in the defensive zone. And Faksa's AAV checks in at a more reasonable $3.25M.
