What is this ? Gibson has been trending wrong way for a while and is way overpaid (even with retention) - I want no part of him.
Matty is going nowhere but if he is moved - it shouldn’t he for picks & prospects.

On behalf of all people NOT LAFFS FANS.... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

The 2OA pick will be = Matthews, but younger.

Then McTavish as well?

Then Mintyukov?

So, a franchise player, a top 6 Center, a top 4 D, etc... for Matthews and your garbage CAP hit of a goalie???

hahhaha

There's no way to fix this. The moment you wanted to trade for the 2OA pick, the phone hung up. TOR has nothing that is that good. Well, Marner is, but he's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO overpaid.

Y'all don't seem to understand this north of the border. Anaheim is not leveraging it's future to acquire Matthews for one year, or for nine years.

We will take our chances with the players we drafted, stop trying to reset the clock that the Leafs organization wasted with Matthews and Co.

Smart people who know hockey understand that. TOR fans think their players are worth more than any players in the world. They just don't get it.

They are fun to message back and forth with because you can picture steam coming out of their tiny little heads. ahhaha

Ditto. Tired of Leafs fans thinking Matthews is McDavid and they can get whatever they want for him.

I am sure he will be but if its for $13M+ The Leaf's chances of winning are 0 with this guy He cares more about Money than winning if that's the case

if its for like 3 years i have to agree with you but dont think it will be. everybody around the leagues cap hits are going to go up the next few years, i would even be ok with a 5 year deal, it brings him to 32 and chances are his contract at 32 will be less than this one

The people who know Hockey understand that Matthews a C that can score 60 goals and in his prime does not come available very often and that players that might be as good one day are NOT as good now and MIGHT never be. that's why they are still prospects. There are more players that will be great than are great.

Matthews is easily worth the pieces above and more

the same reason ducks fans dont wanna do the deal is the same as the leafs, the trade makes the leafs worse right now when theya re trying to contend and the ducks arent expediting the rebuild

The word is he wants $13.5M-$14M on 3 years. Either way based on his first deal and the way this one might be shaping up it really looks like he's about the money not winning

If you weren't a Leafs fan, you would still be wrong, but at least there would be some cred to your post.

The combined impact of McTavish, Mintyukov, and whoever is selected with the 24 1st will have a much larger combined impact than Matthews alone will, it's a 20 man sport, something that Toronto seems to continuously forget. Hell, it will probably be 7 years before the combined salaries of those 3 pieces exceeds Matthews next salary.

As we said, we will take our chances with out pieces. A player like him may not come avaliable often, but no team wins a trade when sending a star out of town. This trade is a W for Toronto and a L for Anaheim.

But FANS don't make the call. Sometimes billionaire owners like to have a new shinny toy or a GM is trying to save his job. Not saying the Ducks but there is 32 teams and 31 teams would love to have him.

Dude you’re being a complete homer. Yes we know Matthews can do that. The issue is that he’s a FA in a year and he could very well decide to walk from Toronto or any team that he may be traded to.

The 2024 pick can easily be top 5.
McTavish is Anaheim’s future 1C / 2C and as well has a high ceiling.
Mintyukov is listed as the 4th highest rated defensive prospect in the league.

All this for a player who could walk in free agency is NOT worth it for a rebuilding team.

Anaheim is not doing this. Not now, not ever. Matthews is not worth that.

the word is based off assumptions with no basis to go off, the leafs are pretty good when it comes to keeping cards to their chest and away from the media so I wont believe anything until it comes out

I like Matthews but I don't see him as the 2ns best player that the NHL sees him as. I don't think he should have won the hart/Lindsey last year but the fact reminds that the NHL does

he was far and away the 2nd best player last year, this year you cant say it. how many players score 40 goals while being great defensively in a down year? wouldnt be shocking at all if he was the 2nd best again next year

You mean they MIGHT Trades like this you can't put a W or L on for many years down the road There is no guarantee that any of the players the Leaf's get will end up making an impact in the NHL.
