CBJ pass. No need for Foegele and Peeke is worth a 2nd or a 3rd.

Likewise I don't think Peeke is the defenceman that Columbus tries to move this offseason.

Unless it's been reported elsewheres, it makes more sense that the Blue Jackets attempt to move Boqvist. Gudbranson may not be the best player in the NHL but the size element he brings to the Columbus back end isn't well replicated by anyone else on the roster. Some combination of Werenski, Bean, and Blankenburg will efficiently eat up any available powerplay time (which was one of Boqvist's upsides as early as his draft year) and Peeke is a far better two-way defender without the concussion history.

There's this overwhelming idea on this forum that Jiricek needs to be in the NHL next season. While it's buy-and-large a terrible stat, his -11 at the AHL level shows there's still room to grow. I think this next season is the season where David spends the year as the primary call-up in the vent of injury but he likely starts in the AHL, especially with Babcock at the helm.

Considering the AHL roster was decimated by call ups and injuries of their own, making Jiricek their no.1 defenseman, I think that -11 on a bad team is not too bad, especially considering he was producing and playing top minutes as an 18 year old. It's one of the better seasons an 18 year old defenseman has ever had in the AHL. By the eye test, he certainly looks ready, but CBJ already have 8 NHL defensemen on the roster so they need to move one regardless, and if Jiricek earns a spot, they are going to have to trade another.

Oh by no means did I mean to downplay Jiricek's season: I'd happily listen to any and all arguments regarding him as the best drafted prospect in the NHL today. It was more an observation that the influx of Provorov and Severson have - as you stated - provided the Blue Jackets with a sum total of 8 NHL defencemen.

The sum combination of Jiricek's waiver exemption status, the typical defenceman development curve, the current roster situation in Columbus, and Babcock's historical preference towards veteran players suggests that we should expect patience on behalf of that organization. Starting Jiricek in the AHL or limiting the start of his season to a nine game cup of coffee solves a lot of that perceived roster issue. If Jiricek makes the NHL roster out of camp, I'd argue that Columbus is more apt to trade two of their defencemen as opposed to one but I'm also an abject stickler for handedness.
