I think it's a lose lose. Holtz won't be able to play 3rd line responsibilities and there's now a pretty big hole at the LD position. Also, NJD don't really need K'Andre or Chytil.

Not sure I agree with the big hole on LHD. I'm very happy with the progression Bahl has. He's exactly what we need in a shutdown D and he's still cheap.

Devils could use Chytil at 3C, but Bahl is more of what the Devils need as a solid yet cheap option over KAM, who I do think is good, but probably top good and with it too expensive for the LHD moving forward based on his responsibilities behind Siegs and Luke.

We could debate picks to balance it out, but I think giving up a top 6 forward for a 3C and 2ish LHD just wouldn't make sense for NJD.

I was referring to the NYR LD. I'm not knocking Bahl. For the NJD he can be a fine 3rd LD. Not sure he's ready for a ton more than that. But their D pipeline is great.

Rangers definitely adding. Offer is fine for Bratt alone maybe but not with Bahl and Holtz included.

I think you're underrating chytil in this.
Chytil had 35 points at even strength in 74 games while averaging 12.8 minutes per game at 5v5
Bratt had 43 points at even strength in 82 games while averaging 13.8 minutes per game at 5v5

so bratt had more games, and more ice time and wasn't that far ahead of chytil at 5v5, while playing on the far more dynamic offensive team. Chytil is locked up for 4 years at an extremely reasonable number, and the rumors are bratt wants almost double chytil's number.

You're also then not allievating the log jam on left wing, and adding one to the Right wing, and holtz is going to end up back in the AHL again with no development, and no actual reason to include him in a deal.

It is not so much undervaluing Chytil. If he play Rw I see no need for this trade at all. But your bringing a lot of interesting points. Miller might be too expensive to resign. But I'll look at other angles 🙂

What I was thinking first was Chytil and a first round pick for Bratt. Problem is cap space for NYR. And I added KAM to open up for resign Bratt. But however I am twisting this it just don't add up. I was hoping I didn't need to buyout Goodrow, but that didn't work either. This was just a failed experiment on my part.

As for the trade- I with all y’all - I dunno. I love Bratt and love Chytil… but trading with NJ ( or any rival) gives me heartburn. I don’t wanna help them ever even it means helping us…childish… probably lol

This idea didn't go as planned. Instead of scraping it I posted it. Originally I planned to make room for top 6 Rw player and keep Goodrow bit that went sour fast. This is where I ended up. Dead end road 😄👍

Both teams decline. The upgrade from bahl to k'andre at 3LD long term isn't worth it, and again an upgrade at 3C over haula also isn't worth losing a top star winger and top prospects

I don’t think NJ would do this.
Chytil is not a good enough replacement for Bratt, and K’Andre, while a fine young player, would probably find more bottom pair minutes than not.

Bratt also would have been locked up a year ago if he was willing to sign this deal
