No interest in moving him unless it’s an offer we can’t turn down; we can get a much better return for Willy than that. I get that a lot of leaf fans want to see something change - but let’s keep calm; in pretty much every trade proposal I’ve seen, we are giving up the best player yet the returns are meh.

Probably but he’s a pretty useless playoff player. He scored 20 for the first time in his career and then in the playoffs did nothing. Could definitely find a more useful player for that or less

Well I don’t think there is a single 1 for 1 trade that would get the leafs a better player. The idea is full multiple holes and get some draft capital

Fair enough but dube is bottom 6, zadorov is bottom pair, and pick is a 2nd rounder next year. All overwhelmingly underwhelming. Request should be nhl ready player that can (in right circumstance) slot into top 6 / top 4 + 1st or high level prospect. 40+ goal scorers (top line winger on most teams) in their prime are worth a lot; just because this is off season doesn’t mean price should be less. Willy > deBrincat do return should be similar (understanding contract situation is different - don’t make the trade if you can’t negotiate an extension)

Yet again, San Jose isn’t trading anything of quality to take on a cap dump

What’s worth more a first rounder that can turn into something or a 3rd/4th line centre that will walk before the sharks become good

Yep I get that but I think ur under estimating Dube he’s only 24 and is under team control hes a centre that had 45 points last year, definitely room for him to grow.

But I could see the leafs getting more for Willy

He chose to come to San Jose, he wants to be here. $4+ mil cap dumps cost to move not yield a return

If u think sturm is worth a 1st ur wrong. It cost the leaf like 15 spot in the draft for the same thing last year and mrazek had 2 years left and was unplayable. Murray actually had good number he was just hurt

remove Murray or Sturm and SJ maybe says yes, don't think it's really close to fair otherwise. Sturm is about a 2nd or 3rd rnd value. Taking on Murray is most of that late 1st value

Didn’t say he was worth a 1st. Also the hawks needed to get to the cap floor, San Jose doesn’t have that issue. Leaf fans continue to make this comparison when it’s completely different situations

Stop with the idiotic Mrazek comparisons, different teams, different market, different year. A cap dump is something you pay to get rid of to give your team cap flexibility to make other moves. The team taking the cap dump gets a sweetener to make it acceptable, they do not send positive value assets as well. Toronto is not doing SJ a favor, SJ is doing the favor for Toronto. Get this through your thick skulls. FFS.

Chill out. You’re right you give up an asset to get ride of the contract. So the leaf instead of sturm get a second. The leafs move back draft spots to get rid of the contract. So the idea is the leafs move back even more draft spot to get an asset back as well. Maybe get ride of the 5th round pick I added to it but sturm isn’t worth a 1st so the leaf get the sharks to take an unwanted contract to even the value. That’s what happens in the league idk if you’ve been paying attention

It’s really not tho. A good rebuilding team takes on bad contract to get draft picks, they also trade away players that aren’t part of the future for assets. That’s what this trade is
