New York doesn't have the cap space for Debrincat. Not even close to having the cap space for him.

Wouldn't taking on goodrow contract help with that? they would have 15 million for both miller and debrincat, and they can bridge miller till 2025 or 2026 where the cap space (hopefully) massively increases

It was hard to make it work even with super low end contracts.

    How are the vibes horrible?

Look, ADB is a good player. But as we've learned with TML, investing all of your cap space in the top 6 is not the best way to win a cup.

If he doesn't want to stay, for whatever the reason, all good. Sens trade and we can use the cap space to get some bottom 6 forwards and a goalie (if Mads isn't the answer), resign Sanderson and Chychrun. After seeing what Brady, Stu and Giroux did this year, scoring wise, ADB became a luxury that, while nice, was going to severely complicate our cap. Add Norris back in the mix too.

If he does end up resigning, cool, they'll figure out a way to make it work. If he doesn't and he gets traded, that's fine too. Wish him well (hopefully in the Western conf).

But honestly, he's not more important than Brady, Stu, Giroux, Norris, Sanderson, Chychrun, Chabot and a potential goalie upgrade (maybe also Pinto). So I'm not losing sleep over a trade, if it happens.

The vibes are, as always, immaculate.

I meant it from the fans side, it seems that loads are quickly getting disappointed and sad. I agree with not spending all your cap space on top 6, but you still need some competent players who would be able to play with the players we currently have, and who would be able to replace giroux in the future, esp since he's 35, he's not gonna stay with us forever, so debrincat would've fit perfectly. Obviously the cap space situation isn't the best currently, but next year the cap space should increase massively and we should get cap relief at the same time, which means debrincat signing long term would've fit, which is why the fans seem to be very disappointed.

However, he doesn't seem to want to sign here, long-term at least, and its his own decision, we have to respect it.

Giroux scored more goals this season than any of his previous regular seasons. Guy is a workout freak. I can see him signing another contract.

The thing about ADB is that he doesn't elevate the players around him. He can score with the best of them. But did he make Pinto look better? Remember how good Mark Stone made Colin White look, to the point that we badly overpaid CW? That's what an elite player does. ADB was invisible for stretches this season and he and Bath teamed up for a ridiculously bad +/-. Even without ADB, scoring shouldn't be an issue.

There's also no denying that the playoffs can be rough, and his ability to withstand the rigors are unknown.

As for having enough cap space, how are you fitting in 8M for ADB, 8+M for Sanderson in a year, 7+M for Chychrun in 2, Pinto, Greig, a potential goalie. It adds up quickly. They might have made it work, and still can, but it gets really tough.

Hawks decline. Not taking 4 years of Goodrow for a 4th.

Even with his buyout friendly contract, Goodrow still takes way more than a 4th to dump.

You don't need to sign fast as Greig makes the team 100% sure so you're saving there

I just proposed the exact same deal in another ACGM

ADB for Lafreniere + Goodrow + 2nd makes too much sense.
