Wilson is worth the caps more than Marner tbh. I’d rather have a guy that’s won a cup than a guy that can’t seem to play well in the playoffs. Plus the Caps would be bargaining their future for a guy from those problematic maple leafs teams

Doubt the Caps would trade #8 overall and Wilson for Marner, but why would Leafs trade #8 overall for a 2nd and two 4ths? Hawks will give Leafs #35 and #44 for #8 if you want.

Marner for Wilson is a great trade until it happens and everyone realizes that Marner is 10 times the player Wilson is. Sure, I get it, Wilson hits and fights. It will be awesome watching him in the penalty box and suspended while the Leafs lose more games. People need to watch a Leaf game to understand how the league and refs call them. Look at the Matthews suspension, the Clifford suspension, look at the way they call Bunting. Wilson would be public enemy number 1 and would have been suspended half a year for the Panarin incident if he was a Leaf.

I mean in themontreal trade. Marner is sure worth that and even more but 8 overall is worth way more than a second and two fourth

The Capitals are not going to trade for a player making $11M+ that has no history of winning and isn’t known for his high compete level in the playoffs. That trade is dead in the water with what appears to be basically a Flat Cap.

you are correct in that I think a deal for Marner would put Wilson on the table. Not sure if it would also include 8oa. That is just my understanding of how the FO thinks. I would do this deal if I were the caps' GM
