Provides Vancouver with a 3C and some cap relief.

Could have Petry instead if Vancouver are still looking for a RD but guessing Vancouver would be on his NT list.

TB hangs up laughing that's a pathetic offer. TB counters POJ for 6th. What about Julien Brisebois track record makes you think he agrees to this deal ? Nothing should. I'll quote him from a 38 minute sit down interview he did after the playoffs ended for them. "While I have this core every decision I make will be geared towards winning now and the next 2-3 years." This trade clearly doesn't do that.

Unless they can find a way to sign him, teams could offer sheet him at 4.2M and it would cost just a 2nd if TB does not match.

So, it's not farfetched that he goes for a 2nd+3rd or two 2nds.

🙄 I was waiting for the moronic Offer sheet comment 9 in the last 25 years have been signed and 2 successful . So your the We'll just offer sheet him buffoon. TB gave a1-5 for Jeannot they don't care about picks
Julien Brisebois in a 38 minute exit interview with "The Block Party" every decision I make will be to win now and the next 2-3 years. Does Colton or a 2&3 give TB a better chance at winning now? If you say Colton the answer is NO. If the answer is the picks your wrong and TB Says NO!!
POJ &Poulin might interest TB but picks aren't of remote interest

Yeah, what typically happens is that teams pay something between the compensation and the players value.

I'm not saying PIT would actually offer sheet him or that anyone team would but there's no reason for a team to pay full price. Either Brisebois finds a way to retain him or he'll get traded for cheap mostly likely. He might finesse a GM too but to assume that he's always going to get the best deals is foolish.

He resigns him Jeannot and fills the rest with 900k or less contracts. Their will be enough interest in Colton if he's available that any salary cap crunch is negated by the bidding war which occurs. If he goes it's probably 2 NHL ready prospects or a cheap LD (like POJ) and a pick 2-3

Lol, if he finds a way to sign Colton or trade him for a player that helps them then so be it.

What's proposed here is in the realm of possibility, stop getting worked up for nothing.

Refer to the Devon Toews trade from NYI to Col. Brisebois isn't Lou, but again it doesn't mean he's going to find a better deal.

The Islanders weren't in the win now mode TB is. Julien Brisebois doesn't put the value on picks you, most on here, or that dude running the website with the point chart does. So,he wouldn't see it as the value needed.

The Islanders weren't in the same position as TB id but they were still in competition, Toews was a top 4 D, Colton is a top 9 F. I'm not disagreeing with you that Brisebois will explore all his options. The picks won't get TB much but they can be used as trade assetsas they are future picks. It’s possible that Brisebois finds an unqualified RFA replacement in FA or that he trades him for an RFA like POJ that addresses a need like you suggested.

I chose to use picks (even though the Pens will likely want their own picks) just because it was easier than trying to find a roster player or prospect that Pitt would give up or that TB would want. TB is going to be in a win now mode for several years beyond the current, so that's why I do see it as a plausible trade even if it's less likely.

I'm also not saying that there won't be a team that gives better picks like a late 1st either but I don’t think that team would be Pittsburgh.

I don’t even know why you’re giving this guy the time of day after he called your reasonable response “moronic”. Sounds like buddy can’t talk puck like a normal person without being on a high horse or throwing around insults. While I highly doubt it happens, I understand your logic behind the Colton situation.

A lot of CF users do say "well we will just offer sheet your guy then" when they are rare but I wanted to clarify that I wasn't saying that teams would offer sheet him Just that it's technically a possibility but GMs are going to do the amicable thing and pay for the guy instead.

Colton isn't the type to be offer sheeted (a 26 yo top 9F with arb rights that is a year away from UFA status) anyways since he as a player has options if the issue is money and is a year away from being able to select a new home if he chooses. He's also not valuable enough for other teams to risk a retaliatory offer sheet in the future.

Probably, that trade was more a joke about Rutherford and Dubas trading Hallandar.

I do see Boeser as a player that Dubas could target but I have no clue for what Vancouver.

Was meant to be. Didn't know that about Hallander though otherwise I wouldn't have included Hoglander.

You have like 7mil in cap space - any reason you're not trying to use that to make this team competitive?

I don't think they will be spending all their cap on signing ufas to multi-year deals, so that they don't end up boxed in. Goaltending and defence is going to be the focus but I really don't know what they will do on the backend.

Instead of Colton, I could see them pursuing Bertuzzi and Holl/Dumba/Soucy via FA over Timmins which would cost 4-5M more.

How would it box them in though? And you need to spend to put a competitive team on the ice if you want to win - I don't seem them leaving millions of dollars on the table.

Goaltending will be the focus for sure since they only have one signed. I'm hoping third line is more of a focus than defense though. I could see them looking at Bertuzzi and Soucy.
