There’s 0% chance the Flyers take $16M worth of money for a 2nd and mid contract. Campbell contract is gonna take a haul to move it’s horrid. The dude is a back up at absolute best and makes $5M for the next 4 years

There's no incentive for Winnipeg to do that.

It can't be too far off, though, don't you think? Borgault and a 1st Round pick would sure be swell. Ceci isn't great, but the Oilers, like most teams, (especially contenders), will need to make the $$ work. And I think we have to remember that IF the Jets do trade Helly, they're probably gonna TRY to do so with his interests in mind (to a contender) . . . so retention and salary coming back are highly likely, and any 1st rounder will likely be in later rounds. What else would you want from Edmonton in this instance? Would a conditional pick that "elevates" into the 2nd or even 1st round if Hellebuyck signs an extension be enough of an add? (and would EDM do it, for those who read this!)

laugh Zero chance that gets you Connor Hellebuyck, And since he's looking at close to 8 x $10,000,000 you've 0 chance of extending him long term.

the Jets are already retaining in this ACGM, so it's unlikely the also take Ceci back as a dump. Edmonton would need to add something to compensate Winnipeg for that. Otherwise the Jets are basically paying Hellebuyck's full salary and only getting a mid late first and meh prospect to do it.

Bourgault is okay I guess, but not too impressive so far, unless I'm missing something.

I know Oilers fans are high on Borgault (or certainly were a season ago--AHL numbers don't really wow!). I fully agree, taking Ceci and 1/2 retentionon Hellebuyck, the proposed deal underwhelming. How would YOU add or change the deal?

If the Jets are retaining and Hellebuyck is extending there, I'd let them keep Ceci. Its the off season, they can go over 10% and figure or their cap issues on their own, cap mismanagement is their problem, not Winnipeg's. Maybe make it Holloway, Skinner, 1st.

Edmonton doesn't really have much that is appealing, I'd rather the Jets look elsewhere.

Fair enough . . . and pretty sure the 3 pieces you mentioned is a No Go on the part of the Oilers, anyway, even if Hellebuyck agreed to an extension.

2-part question . . . If traded, where could you see Hellebuyck ending up? And where would you LIKE him to end up, given the potential for awesome return??

Yeah, fans never want to give up quality pieces.

I'm actually hoping the Jets can keep Helly, but from the offers I've seen here, I think Buffalo would be my choice. They've got Oompaa Loompanen they can send back, along with a nice selection of good grade picks and prospects to build a package out of. Plus they look to be trending up, and are in the US, so Helly might extend there.

How about you? What are you thinking of?

I'm with you, I'd hate to see Helly go. Easily my favorite Jet!

I wonder if LA could be a fit? Tonnes of intriguing youth in their system, plus one assumes they'd be willing to part with draft picks also. Could see Helly having zero issue extending with the Kings. Only caveat is that I'm sure LA would need WPG or someone else to take Peterson, which essentially makes the cost to acquire Helly a fairly steep one for yhe Kings!

Yeah, that's the thing. I could see the Jets taking back some cap, but it will be useful cap not cap dumps, unless the Jets are compensated for it.

Which as you say would be the hard part for LA moving a Petersen and Edmonton moving Campbell.

Exactly. As I mentioned in my initial post, I think that will be a big issue in trading Hellebuyck. Like to think that Chevy does right by him and moves Helly to a contender . . . but how many of those teams can take on his current cap hit or afford his extension. Can't imagine how hard trades are to get done in today's NHL!
