Realistic Canucks off-season

Description
Tried to be realistic. Will likely be Garland over Boeser because of the cap hit but either way CHI will need to hit the cap floor and easily be able to flip either of them next off-season / deadline for another 2nd or so when they most certainly bounce back. Not really sure if it’s enough value for Ross Colton but TB is in a cap crunch so they won’t have a ton of leverage. I used AFP analytics for all the contracts.

Which gives TB the better chance of winning this year next 2-3 Ross Colton the picks? If your answer is Colton TB declines. If your answer is not Colton you're wrong and TB declines.
Any trade for Colton to Vancouver starts with Podkolzin+
What does Julien Brisebois have to do to convince people he doesn't hold a high value on picks right now? One would think giving a 1-5 for a 3rd liner would make that brutally obvious.
Ohh, please show me one trade in his 5 years as TB GM where he traded away a bonifide NHLer for picks? Mitchell for a 7 doesn't count.

Fair enough, although they could easily just flip the picks for help now since the move would essentially be to shed cap. That being said I could see a Podkolzin or Hoglander straight up but no chance canucks are adding to them.

If TB is forced to trade Colton (personally don't see it) they certainly get better offers than that. They might be in a cap crunch (though it's not nearly as bad as many on here seem to think) many teams would be interested in Colton's services. The ensuing bidding war negates the cap situation. If he had an only Vancouver clause or something you maybe correct on the "not much leverage" quote. Colton, Jeannot and fill the roster with 900k>contracts

You’re probably right , I wanted it to be a 3rd but OTT doesn’t have one. That being said Rathbone is a really good young puck moving dman who hasn’t got a fair shot in VAN. Also local and national media guys have all said that Myers will have value after his $5M bonus is paid out along with being on the last year of his contract.

Yeah I could see it being more, I honestly don’t know what his value is but when guys like Elliotte Friedman bring up his name then you gotta think he’s available. Like I said earlier maybe it’s Colton straight up for one of Hoglander or Podz since they’re cost controlled for a lot cheaper.

So, they give up a 1-5 for Jeannot and take a 2-3 for a better player? Does that really sound logical to you?

The problem is Ottawa doesn't have any interest or cap space for Myers, even with 50% retention.

There was interest in swapping Nikita Zaitsev for Myers when Zaitsev was still in Ottawa and we haven't yet traded for Chychrun.

But after dumping Zaitsev and acquiring Chychrun, Ottawa's interest in Myers disappeared.

Then TB says thanks but pass .
Didn't Friedman say Schenn was going to TB for about 2 weeks before completely back tracking? He's got a lot of time to fill so throws s***on the wall often hoping something sticks

It doesn’t but that’s on them , nobody thought the Jeannot trade was a smart/good one. Just because you overpay for a player doesn’t mean everyone else will too.

Also completely different situation, Jeannot was cost controlled for 2 years, Colton is a due a big raise.

Not really Jeannot is in the same RFA status.
The point you aren't understanding is Brisebois clearly doesn't place the same value to picks that you or some geek running a website with a point system does. So, he wouldn't see it as being a fair value trade.

If it's just one of them (Podkolzin or Hoglander) TB moves on to someone else.
And "just flip the picks" won't get them a player as good as Colton without serious sweetener added. So, again it doesn't seem to make sense for TB

Myers to Ottawa and them giving up a 2nd round pick is NOT realistic. However, as long as Dorion is a NHL GM, everything is potentially realistic.

He gave a 2nd for Derek Stepan who had a 6.5 AAV after all.. lol

So hard to say how it will play out with new ownership coming

If Dorion is back, then 99% sure Hamonic is back

This is what might happen (although I'd have it differently) :

Chabot - Chychrun
Sanderson - Hamonic
Brannstrom - Zub
JBD/Thomson

Also Kleven (who will be hard to keep off the NHL very long) and Guennette (him and Thomson are both similar to Rathbone)

Trust me, they don't need Myers, nor they need Rathbone. No playing opportunities for both. Myers at 1.0 AAV sure (instead of Hamonic), but unless there's a double retention trade... no

I’m on my knees begging Canucks fans to stop making Myers to Ottawa trades. they don’t have the cap space for him. they don’t have the need for him. he’d be like the 8th best defenceman on the Sens making the 2nd most. I’m BEGGING you guys to stop this.
