Description
An Idea of the ducks based on *realistic* moves that are most commonly suggested here.

No Im not including one year of Matthews/Marner or Panarin for Anaheim's entire future. "Dream On" - Steven Tyler

Dostal and Drysdale varied the most, but i think I hit a happy medium in commonality vs avg contracts

Comtois is the biggest question mark with what happens. I gave him his QO for one year for this reason

There's certainly further signings and potentially trades to happen but the point of this wasn't to speculate on FAs or big fantasy trades. 4C and at least one more depth Dman come from FA for the NHL club as well as necessary Gulls depth

Could be something like this. Though I won't be surprised if Myers takes a 2025 2nd or at least a 3rd and 4th to move him. It's a lot of cap and teams will be competing for that space so the Canucks won't have the luxury of waiting to move him until after draft unless there is a handshake deal given his bonus is paid after.

Throw in Helleson, Benoit and Lacombe to complete the D.

Canucks aren’t “giving away” Myers. After his bonus is paid he actually has a desirable contract. He’ll at least get a prospect or pick back. Canucks decline.

Leafs ARE NOT trading a 1st to move Murray, even in a pick swap. His buyout cost is so low that it doesn’t make any sense to give away that kind of asset for any reason. Leafs decline.

This is just a compilation of common trades I've seen dozens of times, from fans of many different team. I'm not necessarily of the mind that these are necessarily moves that happen, or are even what I would do. It was just taking common moves and seeing how they'd all look together with Anaheim.

That being said, I'd like to respond to both points:

Even after his bonus is paid, it still doesn't change his actual cap hit. I get that a money conscious team would love to only have to pay a guy a million, but they still have to account for the 6 against the cap he'd still carry as at best a 4D on a contender. It's not as attractive as you think for a league with little money to spend and only a few places that could take him. Vancouver also needs to start finding cap somewhere to make changes unless they're thinking what they have is actually working.

Leafs are a ceiling team no matter what they do. They're competing and have virtually no financial blockers stopping them from spending to the ceiling. They'll want to use that cap for players, especially 2 mil in the second year. It isn't as simple as a buy out.

I don’t think any Canucks fan will complain if we can lose Myers for cheap. A 4th round pick is a realistic cost of dumping him

When the Leafs traded Mrazek they moved down 13 spots. And this was when he had another year left on his deal

Murray is done after this season so u could argue less spot drops to move him. And with Boston and Avs picks being way more than 13 spots thats not good.

Again it just seemed to be a common trade. I also think the Mrazek trade was the exceptional outlier, not the standard but I could be wrong

Another example look what it took LA to dump Quick to Columbus

    Nothing

1st was for Gavrikov, 3rd for Korpisalo.

In general the Mrazek trade set the standard for future dumps as nobody will use old examples anymore (i.e. 2nd + player for FC). Thanks to Chicago a new age of dump trades has been born

I got a feeling Leafs and Chicago will be doing business again as they got some high 2nds

You could also read that as nothing for Quick because they were already getting a 1st and a 3rd for expiring FAs all around.

Cal Peterson on the other end has yet to move. Again not sure Mrazek reset the market that hard
