idk, i feel like with the kind of player you can draft at 5th OA this year, you don't risk it and you draft him

Don’t trade 5OA. I would only move it if you were moving down to load up on picks to get more darts for the dart board.

Jets decline, the last thing they need is more LD. Swap those two LD for one Justin Barron and I’d take it

Regarding the 5th OA, we would be thrilled to get a player of Keller's worth at 5OA. But the drawback is that he is not on ELC, and takes up a lot of cap. This is why sending back Gallagher who has 4 years at 6.5M offsets that one drawback.

It hurts a bit, but I could live with keeping Harris and trading Barron if the Jets added a 2nd. Barron is going to be pretty good.

PLD for DV/Barron/31(32)OA is more than fair. The only things of value to Winnipeg is Barron and the pick which may or may not make the NHL in 3 or 4 years, it’s just another dart for the dartboard.

I don’t think we are quite there yet to trade away early picks. I’d rather continue building a do something like this in 2 years when we calgarys pick. We would be a lot close and have a better idea what our propsects turn into

Edmonton declines. They already don't have enough cap space to re-sign there own players, they most certainly aren't sending a high pick to Montreal for players they don't need and can't afford.

I'd trade the 5th overall pick for Keller alone. Add Gallagher's contract, without retention to it ? Hell yeah, I'm pulling the trigger on that deal.

I hear you. It could be anyone, but the system does not allow me to trade with "anyone".

Interesting how there are people who think the deal is terrible for us because we give up magic beans, and there are those hwo think it is terrible for Arizona beause Keller is a proven asset and picks are not.

The truth is in the middle. Keller is a great player but is paid way more than an ELC player would be. The edxpected cap hits restore some balance to the value of those assets.

The purpose of picks ike 5OA is to get a star player. Keller is a star player already, signed for 5 more years.

It is less risky to trade for a star while clearing the cap to pay said star than to hope a draft pick pans out, even one as high as 5OA. The pick may or may not ever be as good as Keller and meanwhile you are paying over $7M to that prospect plus Gallagher.

My real fear is that Arizona thinks the compensation is not enough, not that we are giving up too much.

I also happen to disagree tying a bad contract to a prime piece like the 5th pick.

We might as well just let his contract continue to run down. We don’t need any cap space next year, we won’t be competitive even with Keller. Might as well wait more for that contract reduce in term

I get what you're saying...but Gallagher's contract almost makes up for Keller. That's one heck of an upgrade.

Remove Barron and Dvo and add kidney and a third then it’s fair. It’s either Barron or a first. Not both
