I'd take that CBJ deal even without an extension and no expectation of making the playoffs tbh. Absolutely worth the possibility of figuring out something where he decides to re-sign.

IMO, the Leafs should make the deal. I see the only value to CBJ is whether they can flip him at TDL for similar value back in a trade. But if the trade was made, well at least attendance might be better for CBJ games, but I really doubt if Matthews is interested in resigning for CBJ...or many other teams for that matter.

If nylander signs an extension I would have to really consider it

I mean really, Marner is 100% not the problem:

- expensive cap hit
- throws hissy fit in practice
- soft, hard to play with in playoffs
- No term and expects a raise
- Dad follows "how to be a hockey parent"

Matthews isn't going to Columbus, Nor does that lame offer even come close to getting him.
