The return for a basically half retained Olofsson should be at least a second round pick, or find another team that will pay that price. I wouldn’t say over paying for Thatcher Demko makes for a good off-season. Especially since you only added another left-handed defenseman instead of getting Owen Power a real partner.

Should have traded demko when he was injured, when his value was low, ever since he came back from injury he's been back to his old self so it will probably take a lot more than what you are willing to give up.

Well, Adams literally wanted to add Chychrun and he is also left-handed, as I understood Granato and Adams, it doesn't matter if they are left-handed or right-handed. Even Samuelsson and Dahlin constantly change sides during the game.

This drives me nuts, I would think that 99% of the NHL D have the skill to play D on their off hand, and have probably done it at multiple levels. It's not that different, you just have to be competent with your backhand.

Yeah, but to be entirely fair, our defense was bad- maybe just because the gm and coach are fine with this doesn't make it a good idea. My understanding is it depends on how good your skating is, a better skater may have more time to retrieve a puck on his forehand. Dahlin looks good in the offensive zone on the right side, he's still just average in his own zone though. I could meet you halfway here, and say if you get the right fit, maybe having 5 left handed d would work fine.

Being a better skater for sure helps fill any gaps. IMO our defensive wohs last season had more to do with young defenders, forwards not playing thier role in the D zone, and an open offensive scheme which is a gamble that you'll get the puck out and flip the ice quickly.

A better skilled player will have an easier time playing on either side, but it's like the difference between playing right or left guard in football. It's the same game just on your other side.

Canucks decline. The reported ask for Demko at the deadline was a 1st, blue chip prospect, and Raty like prospect. That hasn't changed, so if you aren't offering it then no deal.

That’s not an overpay for Demko. The Canucks were asking for a 1st, a blue chip prospect, and a Raty level prospect for him. That’s an overpay and the only way they’d move him

If they want a king’s ransom for Demko they can get it from someone else. That is if anyone is dumb enough to make that trade. I feel like anyone who does make that kind of a deal will live to regret it.
