People in Carter's position with no Contract weighing them down get 2nd and 3rd round pick with teams refusing to waste prospects on the gamble most often
Hart may be great one day but that's not the product you're selling people.
You're selling them a '66 Impala's Frame with some good pieces while trying to charge them for a fully restored car.
At some point when you give up on restoring the car , you give up on your piece of the payday that comes when someone else invests the work required.

This is about the value I have with Columbus trade as usually I include the Bjorkstrand picks as compensation for Hayes. Now Flyers are open to retaining a few mil as they think he's worth 5mil as a player. Columbus would probably need to retain to ensure proper cap management so I personally would ask for a retainment and in return also include Bemstrom who is young winger who would excel in Tort's checking systems. He's fallen out of favor in Columbus for some, reasons *cough cough Pittsburgh goal*, but he's an analytical darling and Torts will know how to properly deploy him correctly unlike here in Columbus.

Every single one of those trade are terrible for the Flyers except the Hayes deal which is just a wash. None of those trades improve the Flyers rebuild at all so why would they do any of it? How does trading for Marner help rebuild? How does trading away all of your 1sts and trade pieces help you rebuild? How does trading for a cap dump horrible contract like Murray only get them a 3rd and they have to give up a pick when they are rebuilding? All of these are terrible and Flyers fans have said so numerous times on their original posts
