Probably too much for Marner, especially given the Barzal extension. Even in NYI terms, its a 1RW, a 2RW and a 1st for a more expensive 1RW signed for 2 years. I dont think NYI part with asll three of those pieces.

Even in the above, its a pretty thin team on defense and that bottom 6 is pretty old. In terms of cap, all these KEY players marner/dobson/nelson/fasching/romanov all hit UFA at same time. (and with Sorokin hitting UFA the year before), so just on that level I dont think NYI can do it.

Points to OP for at least thinking outside the box on a Marner trade (unlike most) but this feels like shuffling deck chairs on the titanic. Hard to say either team is measurably better, just different. I don't think Barzal fits in Toronto's #2 centre spot (although playing him besides Tavares seems pretty funny). Add into that he just signed a big extension and the fit doesn't feel great.

The isles needs more offensive and who better to trade for than Marner? Also the Isles are full at center so i think i make sense for them to do the trade. And Marner is a much superior player then Barzal.
