Description
A lot of people want to move Rutta for cap space, but not sure if possible or who would take. I'm sure someone would. I don't think he's a bad 3rd pair, just had unlucky injuries this year.

I would think you could send a pick and Ty Smith to someone like Arizona to take Granlund for two more years (i know the buyout is cheap, but if he can be moved it's better). Chicago would be another option to look at given their cap space next year.

Grz has been a popular cap dump candidate on here for the B's and would be an immediate upgrade over Dumolin.

I could be biased but think this bottom six would be a vast upgrade over last years. Scratch Carter, unless the team is plagued with injuries or until he demands a trade. I'd like to bring back DOC and Poehling, think both are deserving of it.

Barbashev has had a great season and I would Think this is around the contract he'll be looking for and getting.

Feel decent on the other contracts.

seen a lot of B's fans on ACGM dumping Grz for cap space. Has been all over the place as far as what pics have been sent but seems to be a combo of 2 3's or a 2nd and later pick.

    Pretty realistic, agreed. Nicely done.

I'm real leery about going into next season with the same goaltending duo though. Really need to switch things up there. I would bring back Jarry if we could bring in a 1B type behind him.

I would also target a more physical larger D man than Grzelcyyk. Pens need to get more physical and tougher basically everywhere.

CHI absolutely is not sending out three 2023 picks. The cupboard is bare and they need to restock the whole system.

Why is ARI going to take 2x5m of Granlund off your hands for a lousy 4th? Just buy him out or accept that it's going to cost something to move that awful deal.

this has been posted by numerous Chicago fans on here along with Penguins fans. It gives the hawk's Bedard and 14OA in a stacked draft while still leaving CHI with 2 2nds and 2 3rds.

If the draft is stacked why is a very very bad team giving up 3 picks in the first two rounds

Yes, because PIT doesn't have a 2. But The Blackhawks are in a deep rebuild. They're not going to move TWO 2nds to move up 5 spots. I could see a mid/late 2nd being the cost of going from 19 to 14. That's only should they have a guy at 14 they like. Not like this is a 5-10 spot pick.

Trust me, I don't totally disagree on goalies, but the pens combined SV% was about middle of the pack. Jarry and DeSmith both definitely had some terrible performances but the team in front of them was not good, and that doesn't help.

Disagree on this whole physical narrative that people keep throwing at the pens. They led the league this year in hits.... Grzelcyk is smaller for sure but i think he would fit into this system well.

I see chicago giving up 2 picks... not sure where you're getting three.

Swap PIT and TBL 1st Rd, Chi adds to seconds to the trade.

Could happen, if there's a specific guy who falls that CHI loves! But as bad as the system is top to bottom, it seems more likely CHI is focused on stocking up.

Like i said, multiple chi fans have suggest a trade like this. The Hawks have 4 2nd round picks this draft and 2 3rd round picks... I'd be willing to bet those 2nds aren't all owned by chicago come draft day specially if someone in the draft is falling a bit that they won't but that won't make it to the 20th pick.

Using Athletic's draft pick value chart, 19oa + 52oa is still an overpayment for 14oa. In a year where the "draft is loaded" thats probably a fair trade. Chicago isnt moving 2 second rounders to move up 5 spots unless they LOVE someone who's fallen a long ways.

He's had a heck of a season and postseason, so imagine it will cost. Specially given the lack of talent in this UFA pool.

I can see the Hawks trading the TBL 1st (#19), the TBL 2nd (#52) and the Dallas 3rd (#90ish) to move up to #14. That's an overpay based on any pick value chart you look at. #19, #35 and #56 is not realistic at all to move up 5 spots to #14.

As for the AZ deal, it's not even about the package that accompanies Granny. It's the $11m in real salary he's owed over the next 2 years. AZ has the lowest revenue stream in the league by far. They aren't taking on any unnecessary salary they don't have to. Granny is unnecessary salary.

That package for the hawks deal would be fine with me as well honestly, like i said that has been an overall combo i've seen of some sort (swapping firsts and chi adding two other picks) so i'd do that still. Also at the end of the day it doesn't impact the roster for the penguins next season, was just an add in that's been popular on ACGM lately.

As for AZ, they still need to hit the cap floor and a lot will depend on whether they make any trades in the offseason. People keep floating around Schmaltz as someone teams would trade for, whether that happens or not who knows.

Chicago will also need cap, so that is another option, will obviously cost to move but just thinking outside the box hear. I can't imagine chicago is going to make any large FA moves this summer but rather get as many young guys in the lineup as possible.

If you look at AZ, all they need to do to hit the cap floor is sign their own RFA's and their there. If they trade a guy like Schmaltz then yeah maybe they need to take on cap but that's not a certainty.

As for the Hawks, all they really need to do to hit the cap floor is sign two UFA's for like $4m each and they'll be ok. And that seems very likely since they won the lottery. Hawks will need somebody to play w/ Bedard
