If Chicago were to finish last next season they would have a 25% chance to draft celibrini. I’ll trade the lottery combos + sweeteners for a player who would go first overall in most draft classes if not for geopolitical considerations.

I get the premise and I'm a big fan of Michkov, but that's a really potentially steep price to pay for a guy you're not getting for 3 years. We don't know how good the 2024 class really is yet, they still have another season to play.

Chicago is not in position to do that. Even with Bedard, this team is still 3-4 years away from contending. Can’t give up picks this early in the rebuild.

They are getting a comparable draft selection back, and they have tons of ammo in the 2nd round.

Sharks won’t do this either, a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the Bush.
Chicago has the brand new shiny star in the making and a TON of cap. Plus their prospect pool is solid with a ton of picks the next few years I would not be surprised if Chicago picks up a few of the top FA and swing a few trades. This makes me think it’s likely they doesn’t pick in the top 10 next year.

I’d rather take our chances with whoever they draft in 2024. Plus I really like Eiserman, so I’d hate to miss out on him grimace . I get the sentiment with the level of talent Michkov has, but a lot can happen in three years and he’s not even a guarantee to come over.

I think the Sharks should do this is offered, specifically if it was sfor Michkov. Yes there are signs that he could be a general talent, but there still isn't even 100% certainly that he makes it out of Russia
The Hawks are almost certainly going to be bad next year, and you're also getting 2 more picks in the top 40 of this year's draft. Maybe you take the extra picks now and try to sign a big-name guy in free agency once some of your big contracts are off the books.

I totally get the appeal of Michkov, but I don't think I would give up what is likely to be a top 5 pick next year for him, let alone adding the 19th overall and our 2023 2nd along with it. The top of next years draft is going to be fantastic. If Michkov is still there after like 9 or 10, I maybe start putting out some feelers to potentially move up. But, this is just too much to give up, IMO.

Sharks have decent depth or B grade prospects, what they lack in their system is Grade A prospects and youth and with Carlsson or Smith available at 4th and zero guaranty your 1st next is is in the top 10 then this is high risk! Yes it would be huge… but it could blow up in our faces and that’s a risk the sharks just can’t take right now.

Especially since chicago would be trading away their 24 1st, leaving them no incentive to not build the best possible team next year.

My thoughts exactly! Chicago does this I have a feeling they try to load up their roster to support Bedard and look to be competitive if they don’t have the 24 1st and we could wind up with a 12OA a year later instead of the 4th OA in a banner draft. Yes the other pieces added help but sharks need top line talent not middle depth pieces.

Yeah using the 12OA scenario which I see as plausible I wouldn't give michkov for 12, 26th? (i don't know exactly where tampa's pick lies), and 34

I love the idea and have tried to figure out how to make it work as well with SJS. I think Michkov can be the Malkin to our Bedard (Crosby) for years to come. I totally see the logic considering Michkov is 2-3 years away and you have the draft capital now to make it happen. You can even take Vlasic on as a cap dump as well and reunite him with his nephew for a season.

If it was for Carlsson or Smith I don't think the Sharks should do it, what I said was specifically for Michkov. The other two are basically a lock to play in the NHL in the next two years, but I think the added risk from Michkov makes this an interesting offer

But the sharks are at 4th so Bedard, Fantilli Smith/Carlsson and the sharks take whoever of those 4 is still on the board, Michkov goes 5th or later IMO.
Best bet is to offer that to Montreal and see if they bite!
