Marner > Bratt. Bratt will get $8,000,000 Marner is making 2 x $10,903,000 and will likely get between $12,500,000 to $13,000,000 per long term on his next contract. Makes no sense for NJ.

Bratt is likely to sign around $7.875m (Fiala comp). Unless Leafs are retaining some salary, I don’t see why NJD would add much more than some window dressing. We’d just keep Jesper.

Bratt is a great player. But Marner has a better resume and more value than Bratt. Not saying that you need to add Bratt and 5 first, but NJ would need to add. I'd listen if someone offered me Bratt+ for Marner

Everyone likes upgrades….but that $3m difference is big, which probably takes Severson (and maybe Sharangovich) out of the picture for us.

If you can think of a way to reduce Marner’s cap hit, I’d love to hear it.

We are at a hard ceiling of $83.5m next year and have about half our team to sign. So the + would not be significant unless Marner’s cap hit came down.

Maybe a useful guy like Sharangovich or decent prospect like Casey or Clarke. But wouldn’t be some windfall return with Bratt included. At least not from NJ.

Do a Devils ACGM that adds Marner, extends Meier, brings back Severson and adds a worthwhile 3C (like Haula)…I’d be open to anything. Can move any picks or any prospects other Luke, Nemec, Holtz, Gritsyuk.
