This is NOT a team set for a rebuild and JT clearly isn't the long-term answer as a #1. So, the only way Matthews moves is if the Leafs can' extend him, but I have a feeling he wouldn't turn down $14 million over 8 years to remain here. If the Leafs are going to retool, they'd be smarter dealing Nylander (who a team could resign as part of the deal) or even Marner, who has 2 years left on his large deal. In my opinion Nylander gets you the best return, theoretically, of pieces the Leafs could "afford" to give up. However, if Kyle Dubas remains our GM, I don't see any sort of major changes happening with roster turnover - he is simply too loyal and also too stubborn to do so.
