Meier should not get a 10 x 8. Maybe 9 x 8 but even then, that's too much in my mind.

Perfect scenario is 8.25m x 8. I think it's fair for both player and team.

He hasn't played well enough to get paid 10m a year even as a UFA. Very good player but his stats don't support this kind of contract.

The Devils might have overpaid by acquiring Meier but don't compound the problem by paying him 10m

Even if you if Meier is point per game LWer. That's 7.75m point production in comparables. OK maybe 8.25m X 7 is fair

10m guys better be pushing 100pts or else they are severely hurting their team. Meier is a very good player. 10M+ tend to be franchise type players.

And in typical market when the market is increasing . Guys who you think should get a little less move up the chart a bit more. Unless NJ is a income tax free area I don’t see how he makes it under that like Tampa does.
