Description

Went a little crazy here.

Have seen a lot of Girard to Columbus trades. I think it might be more likely that Colorado moves Toews (if anyone). And if they did, this might be the type of return they'll look for. It's a lot for Columbus to pay, as Svozil looks like he might be pretty good, but they are deep at D in their pool, so perhaps they'd be willing to move him. Obviously this only happens if Columbus can re-sign Toews. Feel free to tell me no, but I thought it was an interesting variation on the CBJ COL trades.

Sorry, you kind of got caught in the crossfire of a recurring annoyance we CBJ fans have here. It is actually refreshing to not see yet another Girard trade.

It's just not worth considering a sign and trade for a 29 year old considering the CBJ's window of competition is likely 3-4 years away when that trade includes a prospect that is a much better fit for that window.

I don't think Washington could fit retaining so much of Kuznetsov's contract, but I think there's a way this trade as it is works with the 3rd being instead sent to Arizona to retain a certain amount, I think Washington would only be able to retain about 1.8 million as of right now.

It's also possible Colorado saves cap elsewhere and needs less retention. I think Kuzy to the Avs makes a lot of sense though.

what about skipping the extra steps and just doing Toews for Kuzy with 3.7 retained to make the salary even for this year

In my brain Orlov was back in Washington and the Caps are better off working toward futures if they move Kuzy. I would have to think about it.

Who do you think Jarmo goes with, assuming it's Bedard, Fantilli?

Bedard is the obvious choice between those two. At #3 I'm certainly hoping they take whoever remains between Carlsson and Fantilli since they've made it very clear they're taking a center.

I would hope they take Michkov, but since it seems like they're super committed to taking a center I'm hoping for Carlsson if Fantilli is off the board.
