Is this a serious post? Honestly can’t tell. Im not against trading nyalnder if they can’t resign him IF the return is great. (Which it should be)
How is trading nylander help pay Matthews in 2024? You could just have another shot at it next year and let him walk before you trade him for not much return.
Also in general fans, media, whoever need to understand the leafs are in the best position cap wise to sign matthews. Anyone can insert the “leafs are in cap hell” reply here if they like but Leafs are already paying matthews 11.6, how much more is he gonna get? 13? 14? They only need to pay him 2-3 million more than they are now, the cap will prob go up that on its own by 24. Any other team needs to free up 13-14 million as most likely he want to sign with a team that is up against the cap already.
Cap will never be an issue in resigning Matthews, he just needs to want to stay. JT deal up the year after he would sign so it could be tight for the first season then 11 million comes off.
