I wouldn't give up anything in a Wheeler trade, and Wheeler would never come to CHI. Makes zero sense for CHI. WPG would be better off PAYING US to retain some of his contract in a 3-way trade.

The key to being a great goalie is consistency: do we really need 4 years of Markstrom's uncertainty? If wolf is coming through the pipeline, then Hellebuyck clears us 6.6MM in cap. Markstrom was terrible this year. It's hard to keep your momentum or confidence when your goalie gives up a goal on the first shot of the game 9 times in a season. In other words 16% of his starts resulted in a goal immediately (and that's not even counting the ones he let in after the 2nd shot, or the 3rd....etc). While I agree that Sutter was an issue, Markstrom simply was a headcase all season. The usual remedy for the yips is a change of scenery. Besides, if he doesn't rebound, we then have a dead contact for 4 more years. He's not kipprusoff, and I'd take the out if given it.[/quote]
