Description
"I know Mark Recchi had a big influence on a Patrice Bergeron. I think Tim Taylor and Dave Andreychuk had a big influence on Vinnie Lecavalier at that point where they’re a really talented, good young hockey player. So I’m excited to get to know Nick more as a player and as a person and to look at how we as an organization can help him to continue to progress and develop." - Kent Hughes

"What we're hearing is that, yes, the Canadiens are still on the lookout for picks and prospects in their roster makeover. But further proof that this is not necessarily a traditional rebuild and more of a roster transformation is that I'm told the Habs intend to be pretty aggressive in free agency come July 13," LeBrun said.

"They hope to be a player. While they want to get younger in some parts of the team, they also want to lure a big star or two to Montreal as part of this roster transformation."

Looking back on these comments from last season, I bet Hughes would still like to add a role model for MTL's young guys... Alex Killorn seems to be the perfect fit. He has extensive playoff experience and he's a work horse which should make him the perfect compliment to Suzuki and Caufield. Being a Montreal native and playing two years with St. Louis should help MTL's cause should he be available.

Next he clearly would like to bring in a star player, a potential star is available right now in Dubois and I think MTL would like to make sure they lock him up. They should also get another great player in the draft, they have Slafkovsky from last draft and he already made a move for Dach. If they get Dubois there Top 6 should be set for years.

Here's what I have for Laval:
Ferrell - Pitlick - Roy
Heineman - Kidney - Richard
Teasdale - Simoneau - Laferriere
XXX - Mysak - XXX
Scandella - Mailloux
Struble - Wideman
Trudeau - Norlinder

Palat term means Killorn signs from age 34 to 39. Who's gonna offer that?

Palat signed 5 years through age 31 to 35, this deal would sign Killorn for 3 years through age 34 to 36.

There's no way anyone is signing Killorn to age 38.

I dont think TB can offer him 6 million AAV. Who else could offer him this much that is closer to contending? I think Killorn would be exactly the type of player Montreal needs. I do agree though with whoever said he would want more term. Maybe 4 is the happy medium?

The other key factor here is that Killorn literally grew up in Montreal and played his first 2 seasons in TB with Marty St. Louis, there's probably a good relationship there. That and like you said MTL can afford to make this offer, a lot of teams won't go $6M × 3 for a 34 year old and a lot of true contenders will already be pushed against the cap.

If they acquire Dubois at the draft Killorn could be sold on the idea of MTL pushing for the playoffs if the habs have more luck health wise and the young guys continue to progress.

Agreed, I think the "Trade Scandella" "Find Edmundson Replacement" ship has sailed, still read rumors so I thought I'd feel it out. Removed that Trade.

Swapped Ylonen and Kapanen for Kidney. Dvorak, Kidney, 17th overall has been generally agreed upon by habs and jets fans.

Dubois is def gonna force the issue this offseason. He's not staying another year in Winnipeg. Especially if Brisson "knows" the Habs really want him.

Dach @ 3C offends me. I believe he's shown he deserves to be a 2C or a 1RW. Either play him there or trade him.

That's very reasonable however, He has stated how he is retiring here brags about being the longest tenured member of the organization 07 draft( he does remind Hedman and Stamkos about that constantly) (according to Victor Hedman) and he may not want to uproot his family

I would say most players will say things like that when the team is winning. Taking a minimum 2M pay cut per season to stay in town when the team is looking like it will be worse next year and is sort of declining is another story.

Huge win for Brisebois if they get him signed instead of Ross and manage to put together a competitive bottom 6 next season, but I do not see how.

There's also a big privacy difference between playing in Tampa Bay or Montreal Could he go to a restaurant in Montreal and not be hounded? I doubt it . Or could he go on one of his 15 game goal less streak and not get publicly torn apart? I think the answer is no. Playing under that microscope may not be to his liking. Can he use his jet skis in December in Montreal?

No it wouldn't and I am a huge Killorn fan . If it's Killorn and Colton yes but Losing a 27 yo Colton for a 34 Killorn is a mistake

Well I believe this is the point. Killorn is gone, that's pretty much established. Theoretically, if MTL is willing to offer $18M for 3 years how do you say no?

He's still got game, he was a menace on the forecheck from what I seen vs Toronto.

As I have said he's probably gone but I really don't see it being a Montreal or Toronto Maybe a Carolina or Dallas Vegas the Kings don't see him going to a team deep in a rebuild

Qualify Colton give Killorn a lot of term he knows he won't get elsewhere and reduce the AAV 8 years 2.5 knowing the last 3-4 years most likely will be LTIR

You are allowed to sign your own players to 8 year contracts. A guy who then will be 38 who plays how Killorn does will be able to find something to LTIR about in 3-4 years really only took a couple minutes of thought and if I can figure it out in a couple minutes I'm sure Brisebois,Killorn his reps all could also pretty quickly.
