Out of those 5 games how many were the Jets actually in? 2, the other 3 were a combined score of 13-5. He may have had 4 points in 5 games but when the ultimate goal in the sport is to win a cup and your facing elimination, you put everything on the line not play like you just don't care for the second time in your career. I don't care what excuse he has, it's a privilege to play in the NHL and some players never get a shot at the cup, the ones that do should appreciate it no matter what team they are playing for or what the score is.

PLD has said he wants to play in Montreal. He is a UFA at the end of the next season so he signs with Montreal as soon as the 2023-24 season ends. Now even with PLD Montreal isn't making the playoffs next season. So why pay for something that they can have for free????

Because the Mtl market is ridiculous (Drouin, paying a high pick) but jets fans think other markets will somehow pay more at the TDL and/or they'll get even more than the Drouin overpayment which is in the zeitgeist of Montreal fandom forever.

He was a p/g in the playoffs (4G 6A in 10 games) with Columbus the previous year, with only 35% offensive starts.
Maybe he's being used wrong, maybe it's a small sample.

If he's being scapegoated by Winnipeg's fanbase however, GM's are going to look deeper into why and you don't want that kind of scrutiny on a trade asset if he was turning in a lackluster performance.

They win the lottery and trade some of their LD. 6LD prospects that are B+ for a RHD and they are contenders as soon as next year. They are ahead of the Habs/Sens/Sabres in their rebuild at that point. The Wings should be more motivated to spend than the Habs anyways in a much longer rebuild to this point. So the example of being unwilling to pay should sing loudly for other fans when the Habs are in year 2.

You are the first person to answer the question there are a group of Montreal that have liked my posts and agree. Winnipeg trades PLD at the TDL and probably aren't excited by the return but admit its fair, then PLD signs with Montreal when free agency opens. When trading a player like that fan always expect to get more. I remember when Pronger forced his way out of Edmonton and that clown Bryzgalov made a comment that pretty much pissed off most of Canada.

Nobody right now wants PLD in Mtl. We've seen enough players like him and struggle. It makes no sense to take needless risks when they can wait and in all likelihood, he will struggle to meet expectations in Montreal. The only reason some fans even want PLD is because he's a shiny new toy but I'm positive within a few games these same fans will hate him!

I dont get it. Listen I'm fine to meet halfway with a 1st rounder but the fact ppl in Winnipeg act like they are doing Habs fans a favour when the Hab dont need to sign this guy much less trade for him is so off putting. If he was a free agent and wanted 9 million, i'd say to pass. So why would Montreal give up anything close to Kirby Dach and Owen Beck? Its wishful thinking from a bunch of homers on Winnipeg that cant see the other perspective.
