Description
I'm putting Dach on the wing IF, and only IF Hugues can make the move for Dubois..
Dach complemented Suzuki and Caufield, plus will provide much need center habilities if someone needs to take to puck drop.

Dubois could also be suited at wing if need be since he's playing double roles in WIN.

I send both 1st rounders in AHL in order to assess good development for them before sending to the wolves of the NHL. They may, and should be called up rather quickly if need be, even start the season in MTL for the first 10. But I rather have them develop before in order not to have another Slafkovsky on my hands.

If Monahan has recovered from his injuries and surgery, I sign him to a one year deal. 1.250M$/Base with a 2M$ bonuses in term of being able to play 70+ games.

The Edmundson trade is only as a show of what I would do in terms of trading him. I picked FLA as a base since they look like they would need a bit more leadership on the blue line next year with the possiblie departure of Staal. Edmundson could go elsewhere.

Honestly think this is a fair deal for both sides. I would suggest that the 2025 pick is only top 5 protected rather than top 10. But the value is good for the Jets who know they are losing this guy regardless.

Any trade for PLD will involve Dvorak.
Trading PLD would leave WPG way too thin at center so they would need a roster center coming back.
I also think this deal happens on Draft Day and will involve FLAs 1st rounder in 2023. If not I can't see WPG being ok waiting 2 years for a 1st round pick in this deal so it would most likely be MTL 2024 1st. (protected).
Also Smith is committed to Boston University for next season so he won't be in the AHL.

Too much filler and not much quality going to Winnipeg. Easy no for the Jets. That offer is beaten by multiple teams.

Let's be honest, all 4 to 9th picks this year can easily help out the Habs. So I put Smith in there, but Carlsson, Benson, Barlow, Leonard or Yager could come in and be solid picks that would help fill holes on the wing or center for the Habs. It's a very good year top 15..

Didn't know about Smith, thanks. So even better. Wait him out on devlepment.

As for the PLD trade, I do feel that this could be at Draft, but if I do this, some become outraged, and go all out on the post. Most don't even think about the problems Chev is going to face THIS SUMMER... PLD is for all means necessry RFA but with arbitration. So he could potentially become UFA if arbitration gives him more than what Chev is expecting, and WIN doesn't have that much space next year and have others RFAs to sign plus others to complete the roster. Does Chev want to take the risk?

It's all windy hot air that gets some all nuts about trading out PLD to the Habs thinking they'll get 3 first round picks or better from another team who'll probably lose him unless there were already some talks to Dubois' agent indicating Habs are not interested.. Which would be crazy to do.. Especially form a top player indicating he wants to play in MTL for once.

As far as the Dvorak implications, again.. would be for this but it brings some out of the woodworks. So instead of being harrassed I just didn't go for him and went for Hoffman who will be in his contrat year, hence more implicated and a sniper which they would need to get goals. Or, Habs could trade out Evans. He's young and has potential, low cap hit for a year and can be signed before he goes UFA after the season??

I ended up thinking it could be better for the Habs to not lose too much for the first round pick, so it could be the 1st of 2024 with top 10 protected, then unprotected best of 2025 if 2024 is top 10. But then I would switch the 2nd of 2024 for the 3rd of 2025. Like you say they may not want to wait 'till 2025, but getting a 2nd round and Beck could be a compliment to that waiting an extra year.

This draft will easily go down as one of the best since 2015. It is a LOADED top 30. Going be great!
