Backlund has not had 1 good year. He is consistently a 40-50 pt guy who is one of the best defensive centres in the game he is a good 2C and an elite 3C, so a 1st which is practically a 2nd is a fair return.

Checks stats. didn’t quite reach 40 last year. Just messing with ya but too much for a 1 year rental who shows he is a 3C level and getting older

We could just re-sign staal who is just as good.

I think Backlund is better than Stall for sure, Backlund had some of the best defensive metrics in the NHL this season, he also would have a 4M cap hit and can fill in the 2C and 3C role for a very late 1st.

He wouldnt be a rental as he would be extended. Minnesota desperately needs a true 1C if they want to compete for a cup, Lindholm would complement Kaprizov and Zuc very well.

Minnesota doesn't have the cap, so no. Again they don't pay rent prices or do trades likes this

I think its pretty far, Khusnutdinov is miles better than Raty he had 40 pts this year in the KHL and projects as at least a 3C you also get a 1st in a deep draft and Spacek who could become an NHLer.

Which Minnesota never will

Explain how?

1st for Backlund is a good start but he will likely draw interest on a similar level to ROR so only getting a B prospect ob top of the very late 1st is underwhelming.

Toffoli return sucks hands down. Neither of those prospects are particularly good, I would absolutely expect a mich better prospect attached

Spacek and Khusnutdinov are decent prospects but you clearly overvalue them.

They would have the cap with Dumba, Gologski, Sundqvist, Klingberg, Nyquist, Fleury and Hartman off the books by the end of Lindholms deal.

Lindholm is eaisly better than any centre you currently have with Lindholm being extended your 4 centres would be Lindholm, Erikkson Ek, Rossi and Gaudreau which would make Khusnutdinov expendable. Wallstedt will replace Fleury, while Faber and Addison replace Dumba and Gologski. Their is also Ohgren, Yurov and Lamboswho could be in the NHL by then.

So please dont me this trade doesnt make sense, I took time to look into the future of the team so Lindholm isnt a rental and would greatly help your team.

I think ROR is valued more than Backlund so I think the return I have is fair, ROR was a 1st, 2nd and 3rd so Backlund could be a 1st, decent prospect and maybe a 3rd or 4th.

Toffoli is a rental for Dallas, they would not have the money to extend him long term, we traded Toffoli for a late 1st, a former 2nd rounder Heinimanen and a guy who isnt in the NHL anymore, Toffoli had 3yrs left at the time and was coming off a great year in the bubble. Maybe you could get a 1st + Bourque for Toffoli from Dallas but thats a strech imo.

For me the teams that make sense for Lindholm where he isnt a rental are Minnesota,Detroit or Colombus, I think Minnesota has the better prospect pool of the 3 teams hence why I made the deal with them, there are lots of prospect options for Lindholm from Minny including Rossi, Lambos, Yurov, Ohgren and Khusnutdinov.

A trade with Colombus would probably be the LA 2023 1st, Chinakov and Svozil or something to that extent, maybe you can get Sillinger but I doubt they give up on him after 2 years.

What is a better return?

Your getting a 2023 1st in the 20s in a extremly good draft class probably the best since 2015. Marat Khusnutdinov scored 40pts in the KHL this year as a 20yr old and projects as a good centre in the NHL level. David Spacek is a solid Dman who could fill a bottom pairing shutdown role in the future. As well as 2024 2nd which could be another NHLer.

Khusnutdinov was 6th in scoring on his team this year. SKA was very stacked. He could make the NHL some day but highly unlikely to be more than a 3rd liner.

Spacek is again decent but nothing "stand out."

Once again apparently you can't understand our gm doesn't trade 1st round pick or prospects. You can trade him elsewhere. Just like fiala was traded, our gm has made it clear he's not making the team worse, or getting rid of multiple players for one. Once again he builds through draft abd no Matt how much you want Minnesota 1st round pick, David spacek or marat k , they aren't getting traded. Bill Guerin doesn't care much for trades, so no Once again. There's a reason wild fans say no to 1st round picks and prospects

Lol dude not a chance in any world. Guerin is the most patient gm in the world. He hasn't traded any 1st round pick or top prospect or prospects since being gm. Good luck with that. He's made it clear his intentions is to build team through draft, and for whatever reason other teams fans get annoyed at that. A simple research would answer your questions, because you haven't taken your time.

I get the idea of building through the draft, but there comes point where you have to turn some of your prospects/picks for a 1st line player. In this trade you would have a bonafide 1C while still having Ohgren, Wallstedt, Faber, Addison, Yurov, Rossi, Lambos and Beckman.

Well not how Guerin thinks and until he does, not happening. Rossi, marat and David spacek will not get moved as their highly thought of especially by Guerin and Judd brackett. There's a reason they are collecting more picks by trading greenway and will trade calen addison also to move up in this draft

We can respectfully disagree. But j am a wild fan living in MINNESOTA. It's a fact how they see this prospects and the 2023 draft or every draft for that matter especially 1st round picks. They literally made sure to get a high return of 2nd round pick in 23 for Jordan greenway

Flames are a Good Team and don’t need a rebuild

If we Trade any of our Stars, it’ll be for Stars in return or we’ll wait to see where we’re at come the Deadline and whether they’ll extend long-term or not

Duehr & MEP will sign for $775-787.5k each and we should bring back Ben Jones and Pospisil too

Flames aren’t paying Matthew Phillips $1.25mil or would ever consider playing him at Centre. He’s a Tiny Right Wing

If he’s, signed, Stone will sign for $775k. Lewis should only be signed for the same or $850k max

No way Adin Hill signs for that little and it’s not likely that Meloche (nor Matthew Phillips) re-signs after not even being used this season

Vladar’s worth a 2nd. DET’a 3rd + a 4th would be fine, but DET will try to sign a UFA or Re-Up Ned without paying picks. Better to target LAK, PIT, CLB, DAL, OTT, etc.

Flames won’t be retaining on anybody unless it’s at the Deadline and they’re out which isn’t likely. Would prefer Bigger and ideally Right Shot Prospects more than Smaller + Left Shot

Stats look decent on the Prospects in the DAL Trade for Toffoli’s, but do we have a clear Right Shot replacement for our best Forward this year!? Until we do, it makes no sense to move him and he may be a candidate to sign a Team Friendly extension. I like Ty Dellandrea & Jani Hakanpaa as DAL Trade Targets as well

We should get way more for Lindholm if he’s Traded. He’s just as good, maybe better than Jack Eichel and Mika Zibanejad

Not enough for Tanev and we want players, not picks, we’re not rebuilding

Not sure we want to move the only guy who clearly wants to be a Flame for life in Zadorov

That'd be terrible for the Devils in my view. Wouldn't want them to deal Casey alone for Hanifin and if that's the extension he's looking at the Devils would be way better off just resigning one of Graves or Severson.

But going on how NHLfan suggests the Devils to trade close to the Lindholm equivalent for Hanifin it seems to indicate he values Hanifin way higher than what I do.

I was basing this on the return for Lindholm, I would put Hanifin a tier below Lindholm.

This was a worst case scenario (no one wants to come back amd the Flames take the rebuild direction). In terms of Lindholm he may be better than a Zibnajead but I dont think the league views it that way.

Personally I dont believe this team is bad but its not good enough to be a contender. In real life I see the Flames only trading Vladar and running back the same time with the subtractions of Lewis,Lucic,Ritchie and Vladar while adding Pelltier, Wolf, Duehr and Coronato.
