A bust in Zadina and a middle 6 blah winger isnt even in the ballpark. You're talking about moving up 8 spots into the top ten. It's gonna cost multiple high assets.

WSH needs to get guys that can provide impact immediately since all their guys are in their mid-late 30's. Kuba can do that, and Zadina is very much defensively sound while touting a 56.6% xGF%.

Washington would likely prefer to keep this higher than normal pick in a deep draft to build a bit for the future, while trying to get back into the playoffs and contend next year, especially with a deep draft liek the one this year.

I'd imagine if any team would want to give Detroit a top 10 pick the Wings would have to give up a couple first and a great prospect.

We need scoring more then anything at this point. One of Oliver Moore or Brayden Yager with one pick and Barlow is absolutely set in stone the other one. If it's 8/9 that is and nobody like will smith/michkov drops

I would have agreed, if we still had Hronek. However, we have zero top 4 RD prospects in the system, so that's likely our biggest need with scoring very close behind.

After Reinbacher getting picked, there's room for one more name. I'd be good with any of Leonard/Moore/Yager but could only grab one.

Reinbacher is likely extremely overated due to the fact that this is a very heavy offensive prospect pool, so the few D ones are elevated. He played in a lower league and didn't stand out that much, I think someone is going to reach for him and hope it's not us. If we take him at 18 in fine with that, earlier it's a mistake. Passing on Barlow is the biggest mistake of the draft

Probably, if it was at all on the table, would cost Islanders pick and at least 2 2nds.

They'd probably want a decent prospect + 17OA.

Moore, Leonard, Sale, Dvorsky are all possibilities, I'd assume with two picks they take Reinbacker but honestly I'd rather two forwards and really add some scoring and punch to the forward prospects.

I definitely want to add a scoring forward, but I think Yzerman will take a Dman over Forward if the players are "tied" in their ratings. Leonard and Moore are my favorites though.

Last year AZ traded 27, 34, and 45 to SJS for 11 which I will take as a baseline for moving up in a draft. 8oa is higher than 11, and in a much better draft, so going by draft capital I would say "fair value" is 8oa for 18oa and all 3 of your seconds this year which are 41, 42, and 43oa.

Could Kubalik and Zadina combined get you 3 early/mid seconds in this draft? Maybe. Are they worth that for Washington? Almost certainly not. The bigger problem for Detroit is that Washington needs either true high-end prospects from the top of the draft OR true elite forwards that can help them win now. Detroit just doesn't have that player -- think Ehlers, Konecny, DeBrincat -- that the Caps would be willing to move 8oa for. Whether they're picks or players the caps don't need more assets they need elite ones, moving down for either picks or the package you have here goes in the opposite direction.

Really, if we have 9 and 18oa, I think Reinbacher is already gone by 9oa so we take a F and possibly ASP at 18.
