I would love to see Evgeny Kuznetsov on my Red Wings. Bird, bird, bird, the bird is the word. Yzerman probably passes though because of what happened with Vrana. I would call and ask about Bäckström though.

That's not getting Cat. Severson gets 5.5-6 mil. Freddy Andersen gets a lot more than 2 mil. 🤭

Don't want another coke head on the team so no Kuzy. No interest in Ghost.

Edvinsson is too good to be a 7D. He'll be in the top 6.

Hawks would not be interested in that. 3 more years of and almost 15 million owed to Chiarot is probably looked at best as somewhat negative value (most certainly would be to a rebuilding team like the Hawks). Viro is an ECHL d with the Hawks based on their LHD pipeline bursting at the seams with better options. Telpy while probably never going to be much is 21 with 2 full decent AHL seasons under his belt for a team with a fairly shallow forward prospect pool (at this point I would prefer to just see his development end in failure than to just give him away). I would want a first (mid to late) plus a little something of value to move Murphy. This proposal is an attempt at quantity over quality and I don't think it gets all that close in value even if there was a willingness to go quantity. I think at the worst, the Hawks will retain and package a small piece to get a similar return to McCabe....a first and 2nd.

If you're gonna sign severson no reason to pay to go get Murphy to play on the 3rd pair. I'd take either guy but not both.

Hawks decline. Taking on two more left shot D in Chiarot and Viro kill any chance this deal may have had. Hawks need a lot, but left D isn't one.

I thought the goal was to tank? Why not move some of those LD to other positions? Chiarot could probably play center. But seriously, I'm not high on Chiarot's abilities, but he is a good teammate/leader. Does he have value in a trade? Probably not much. 2 2nds and Viro is pretty fair value. The 1st 2nd is for Murphy, the 2nd to take Chiarot, and Viro is basically another 2nd round lottery ticket.

Murphy is probably the Hawks best remaining trade chip, and he's the undeniable team leader with Toews on his way out. Hawks wouldn't trade him for a single 2nd. My gut is it takes a 1st or two 2nd's or a 2nd and a good F prospect for the Hawks to trade Murphy. As for Viro, Hawks don't need a left D lottery ticket. Any other position? Maybe. But Hawks have 7 left D prospects age 23 or under that they are very high on. This package from Detroit as constructed isn't what the Hawks would want. The two 2nd's probably get Murphy, but if you want Hawks to take Chairot, that takes another asset. And not Viro or some other middling prospect. And Teply is removed from the trade altogether. He's just about NHL ready and should be a decent bottom 6 guy.
