Pens Retool to get better in all areas

Description
Pittsburgh gets a faster bottom six with the ability to play defense and grind while also providing scoring. POJ will be much better defensively in his second year and Ty Smith will have the chance to prove he can handle a normal NHL role while Pittsburgh can dump Petry's contract and sign a solid and strong RD to replace him. Not sure how the Avs would feel about the Francouz trade, but it could be reworked in a few ways to make it work. Adding Francouz could give the pens a 1A/1B goalie system that DeSmith couldn't handle before. This would give Jarry the necessary rest to stay healthy and maintain his peak performance throughout the season. Let me know what wouldn't work or what could be better. (Olofsson also gives the pens a powerplay weapon that could be utilized in different ways)

Could be other teams but I think Chicago would be dumb to not take on Granlund's contract for 2 years for a 2nd round pick.

  1. Francouz, Pavel
Détails additionnels:
Francouz could take some workload off of Jarry and be more of a tandem than with DeSmith.

Détails additionnels:
Considering Francouz only has one year left and only played 16 games last year his value shouldn't be too high and in return Colorado gets a manageable backup goalie that can play a good 16 games and a cheap depth forward.

Lmfao. No they don't. No one is trading for petty. Let alone retaining salary on a player that will net 20 plus goals for you next year.

And we give up the better pick lol.

Yes I do think we should take a 2nd for Granlund though do believe it would take a little more as there is still $11m owed in salary over those 2 years.

Would probably want to see a 2nd + 3rd combination coming back and considering we have the leverage we can ask that or Pens can try ship him elsewhere and circle back if there aren't other takers as lots of clubs will be wanting to move salary and cap with it only increasing $1m this upcoming season.

I think you guys would be surprised how much a good RD would benefit the Sabres. I can almost guarantee with Petry instead of Lybushkin, Jokiharju, or Bryson the Sabres would've made the playoffs. The Sabres don't have much leverage considering Olofsson gets scratched and barely plays for Buff and with the amount of cap space that Buffalo will continue to have, retaining a bit of Olofsson and taking Petry's contract will cause no problems. The draft picks could be swapped around to make the trade work.

We’ll sign Mayfield instead. Much cheaper younger and better player thanks

Gudas. Severson Dumba. Why settle and we can certainly overpay on anyone sensible. Funny he’s good enough for us and not you. We’ll be fine without him

Gudas and Dumba are horrible but whatever helps u sleep at night. The pens don't need this trade whatsoever either and could sign someone instead of VO71 just as easy so idk why I'm even arguing

Personally, I don't think a 2nd is enough for the Granlund dump. But CHI probably accepts.

No we wouldn't be surprised. Petry isn't a good rhd.

“Barely plays”… 28 goals later… 75 games played

But… I think Petry still has good hockey and think it would be a decent 1v1 trade

Value is probably there in the Avs trade but if the Avs were interested in Heinen then they'd just sign him in free agency.

Petry would be OK, but not for Olofsson.

Dumba, Orlov, Mayfield, Clifton, Gudas and more would all be an upgrade over Bryson and Buffalo would still have Olofsson's 28 goals.
Buffalo does not need to target a specific UFA Dman, just one who is better than Bryson.
It was surprising that it was game 81 that Granato finally put Olofsson on the fourth line.
Girgensons and Okposo would erase nearly any defensive liabilities of Olofsson and Victor would still find open spaces to score goals.

BTW, Jokiharju and Samuelsson are only 23, Chara was -27 at 25 yo, they will be better in two years.
Power is only 20 and he will get better next year.
Buffalo only needs an upgrade of Bryson.

Takes more than a 2nd to move Granlund to the Hawks. Some other team might bite, but I doubt it.
