Detroit has so many ld already, plus Krug's contract is just too long.

agreed but why i chose detroit is because our gm Doug Armstrong and Stevey Y like making trades with each other so i think it potentially get accepted plus i want the trade to happen next season

Considering he has already started his decline, the Blues wouldn’t be looking at getting much. Most teams would prefer to not lock up 4mil on a 3rd pairing guy, especially one who is declining. Leddy would also have to waive his NTC for this to happen, so the teams he might be willing to go to would be slim, and the teams that would actually want him are likely slimmer. Best case scenario, probably 6th/7th or FC.

I would pay a 3rd to ditch him. Maybe even a 2nd. There's no need to get anything back for him, the prize will be the cap space.

Why is Perunovich getting 3.8m? Confused on that one. Also pairing him with Parayko or Faulk seems like the main issue we currently have with Krug.

Hanifin is a great target to pair with Parayko. No reason to dump Leddy unless we have a prospect coming up that requires the minutes. I know there's a lot of dislike for Leddy, but he's our only LD at the moment that's capable of playing 20 minutes a night. He's an average number 4 we're asking to be a number 2.

Move Krug out somehow and let Perunovich slide in that 3rd pair with a defensive minded guy. Add Hanifin and have a left side of Hanifin, Leddy, Perunoich. Not necessarily exciting, but it's better than where we're currently at. Could probably honestly have a decent amount of takers for Krug if 1-2m were retained. Now i understand that's alot of dead space. But when you have a guy who looks to be able to do the same thing in Perunovich on a min contract I don't see how it'd be too tough of a sell. Especially since I don't think we'll spend to the cap for a couple of seasons while we regroup.

Like with O'Reilly and Tarasenko. These players aren't all bad players declining. They're not put in a favorable circumstance to their skillset. Neither Krug nor Leddy are capable of playing heavy defensive usage for 20+ a night, but both have been asked to pretty frequently this season. It worked last season when we were scoring at a ridiculous pace and we could shelter the Krug/Faulk pair and essentially have Parayko fend for himself with a random mixed goodie bag of partners in heavy defensive usage.

Red Wings don't need LD. We already have Walman, Edvinsson, Maatta. Plus Wallinder and Johansson are on the way. Even LD Chiarot will be playing RD next season.

Detroit doesn't want Krug, he's too small for our blueline. Our blueline is basically 6'2" to 6'6" Krug is 5'9" If Parayko is made available i'm sure Yzerman would be interested but not Krug.
