Remember McMichael can play wing and Mantha needs a change of scenery. Would change Chesley to Iorio. Solid package imo.

For that price, trust me - nooooo thanks. We'll keep Zucc for his last year, and re-sign Johansson on the cheap to play opposite Boldy. Don't need a self-centered powder sniffer on the Wild, no matter the retention or being buddies with Kaprizov.

Honestly, that package would be close to the most I'd be willing to give up for Debrincat. That is similar (maybe more) to what OTT got last summer.

1st in a deep draft, an NHL ready prospect, a young puck-moving RHD, an NHL player who needs a change of scenario, and a 3rd.

If that trade does not meet OTT needs, okay fine. But that package is more than enough to get a top 6 forward somewhere else. Also, OTT already has multiple players with high salaries. Adding another one will not help their cap issues in the future.

Plus it’s one year of Mantha. So that’s even mor cap space in the future

Pretty sure that Minnesota has zero need for Kuznetsov.

Alexis Lafreniere isn't worth half of that offer, let alone $6,200,000 which is a major overpay.

And why would Alex DeBrincat commit long term? With a Capitals team that will be heading for a full blown rebuild once Ovechkin retires.

He is a replacement down the road. Laf is to get him away from the rags and it’s only one year. And with Kuzy who ever ever wants him and will give a first and good prospect that will replace backstrom soon I’m down

"Johansson on the cheap" lol. Why would he sign for cheap? what if a team offers him 3x2.5m? hes looked great.

If that is what DeBrincat will sign for, then Ottawa will not be trading him.

Ottawa declines.

I mean relative to whatever the Wild would be taking on with Kuznetsov's contract.

Mojo isnt a center and hes far from the level Kuzy is... would be similar to comparing a 70p guy to a 40p guy. So he would be "cheaper" but hes also not a comparable talent wise

I get that. But for the next two years the Wild still need to be money conscious - 14.7M in dead cap means maximizing value anywhere possible. Kuznetsov is a better player, but his contract is prohibitive for that exact reason even if the Caps retain.

Wild give up 2nds and 2 okay to good prospects....

2nd + prospect to caps....they retain 1.8m
2nd + prospect to AZ......they retain 2m

Wild get him at 4mx2yrs

Clever work, but I still don't see it fitting. They have to re-sign Gustavsson, Gaudreau, Duhaime, possibly Addison, possibly Mojo, possibly Sundqvist - all with 12.3M in cap. I think Boldy's new contract sealed the deal on any other big contracts coming in for the next two seasons. C'est la vie.
