It’s funny how jets fans are obsessed with trading PLD to Montreal now since they realize it’s inevitable.

Habs should not trade any assets, tank in 2023-24
PLD wouldn’t make us a bubble team, but I rather be a bottom 8 team than 8-12 ish
MTL have two legit RHD prospect and Barron is one of them
We ain’t trading him for a guy who wants to be here
MTL management loves Anderson, so even if YOU don’t value him highly, they do

This is what gives us a bad name.

At this price we absolutely trade for Dubois. We've gotta start climbing out of the basement eventually, and if we trade for Dubois before the deadline we can extend him for 8 years to bring the AAV down, I like Barron a lot, but we've got a lot of young defencemen, plus don't be surprised if they take a RHD with the Panthers pick in this draft

Pepperidge Farms remembers the days of Beck, Dach and multiple 1sts during the Summer otherwise the Jets dont pick up the phone. Those same ppl now 'only' want Beck, a 1st and a 2nd plus

Its like threatening to take away a a child's toy for a day to teach them a lesson then simply never doing it. The child learns nothing! They wont learn til the trade happens and it will be very underwhelming to them much like every trade where a team holds all the cards see Kane to NYR, Giroux to the Panthers, etc, etc

Anderson isnt waivig so he can swap places with his friend though. I agree Barron could be moved. I much rather he goes than Mailloux or the Florida 1st. The upside in Mailloux is simply better than Barron.

Hard disagree on the relative values of Mailloux and Barron, but otherwise I'd agree

If they give up on Mailloux. It would be such a Bergevin move. Hughes promised him a clean slate. Serge Savard famously said in his book that his biggest regret was making Bergevin his top choice when Serge was the Molson recruiter for the GM job in 2012

Regardless of that, Barron is only about a year and a half older than Mailloux and is already a productive NHL defenceman. Mailloux on the other hand is underwhelming for a D+2 player in the OHL

We wouldn't move Barron for a 1st. We aren't in a position to trade our lone, young, NHL ready and eligible RHD, we have in our organization. IF he were traded, it would be because we were getting significant value (more than a 1st in "trade credit").
Anderson isn't being moved for less than a 1st. Outside opinions don't matter. Montreal values him highly. If he's involved in a trade, it is because we are getting value for him as well.
That's two 1sts plus in relative value before adding a 2nd and a 4th, and is too much for Dubois.

Even if you remove Anderson, who Winnipeg fans insist they don't want and Montreal may want to keep anyway if they are acquiring Dubois, this proposal is still firmly in the "maybe ... if" category.
As in "maybe if" we made another trade for a RHD in conjunction with this move, or "maybe if" we draft/sign a couple of strong RHD prospects.
It's not simply a matter of "ooo, Dubois, let's get him!". It has to make sense, and subtracting from a position of need to add in a position of relative strength, just doesn't fit the plans.

I mean Josh has Winnipeg on his no trade list at 99.9% so it really doesnt even need to be addressed in terms of fit.
