I dont think Ylönen holds the same value as Faber did though, but generally speaking i dont disagree with your value projection. Dubois' intentions mean he likely wont bring back any dragon haul.

As long as you can beat the offer of a rental buying team, i figure he is yours

Ehh, not particularly convinced on either of them frankly. It really comes down to what the jets value. Faber had a lot of value for being RHD and being defensively oriented. If the jets are looking for something like that these are not players theyll be interested in

Yeah I feel like if ylönen was swapped with Mailloux would be the most ideal as he has concerns but fits a need more. That would be an okay deal in my book and still not as expensive as some Dubois deals would be if he's willing to extend elsewhere.

If the Habs are presented with a chance to dump Mailloux as a key piece to bring in Dubois you need to have the NHL on the phone before they can change their mind. A) he is mid (im a knights fan and watch him often), and B) moving a PR issue for a PR win would be huge

Yeah but even then I'd prefer him for his upside and just not really needing ylonen. Just hard to find guys that work for both sides and get a consensus.

He's a rhd that has size and skill. Sure there's a risk to him but getting ylonen instead really doesn't do anything as he's a skill guy that would be subjected to a bottom 6 role and diminish his value. At least with Mailloux if he can play and becomes even a bottom 4 dman he would have a role and helps with the depth. If he's better than that he's most likely our top rhd prospect

His shot is his main skill. 102 mph and led the OHL defense in goals. Other than that, eh

Okay and I'd still rather a mid prospect that fits a long term need than a bottom six skill guy that will lose his value not being put into a situation to succeed

I think the Fiala trade was more driven from the fact of Minny not being able to afford him with the impending cap hits of the buyouts coming.

So, to remain competitive, they had to let him go, and I think that was the best offer available.

I think Dubois commands slightly more, but not much, simply because Winnipeg is an armpit, and they need him for any runs they can get, and would likely be worse without him.

I still don't think sending prospects when they can potentially get him for free in 15 months makes much sense.

Better to be patient, and stock pieces.

I wouldnt put that much stock into the goals. Sure the shot is fine, but his totals are more a factor of usage. He isnt driving them.
The hunters are known for leaning heavily on their vets. Bonk might go in the first round (id take him in the 2nd myself) and he barely played last year
