He's not gonna sign so you have to move him. I disagree though and think the draft/off-season is the best time to move him. Qualify him then retain money on a deal. His cap number combined with a terrible ufa class and someone gives you a boat load.

There is going to be a team who is thought to be a no brainer cup contender this year who ends up losing early in the playoffs that will want to add a big piece to get them over the hump. PLD for 3.3 million is exactly that piece.

Jets will be able to get a good amount this summer for Dubois if they choose. This off-season will be massive for Winnipeg as they’ll have a number of high profile pending UFAs after next season.

PLD has the ability to put a wrench in that. You cant retain until he signs his QO which is after the draft and potentially after the begining of free agency.

Edit: I'm like the only Jet fan that thought he should've been traded last summer, didn't think it was a good idea to keep him around as its just delaying the inevitable and lowering his value the longer it drags out.
Also think it's an issue having a key player in a lame duck situation, never going anywhere with a key player who isn't bought in. They needed to start a bigger retool last offseason and it should've started with a PLD trade.

I dont think a day or two after the cup vs at the draft (which is a few days/weeks later) really changes anything. Its more this summer vs at the tdl. They will probably get a bit more in the summer but still will be a rental level return

What part of him being an rfa and the jets allowing for whatever team he goes to to say he's willing to sign an extension or a sign and trade to a team of his choosing. Fact of the matter is no one truly knows what's going to happen but educated estimates. So before we say what's exactly going to happen let more information about what is possible to come out to avoid making deals that are worse than what a worse rental in horvat got.

I disagree, if it goes past the draft or even past the start of free agency it could for sure lower the return as GMs spend their cap space and move on to other options.

Sure if you let it drag into august but from the end of the finals to the 1st weeks in free agency his value stays the same

Also might want to change the agm name to "how the pld Sega MIGHT go in the next year or so" just makes it more opinionated rather than you definitely knowing exactly how it will go because the fact is the chances of this happening are next to 0%. Sure it may happen but looking at all the possibilities and outcomes sure in another universe this could occur but also Dubois could be traded at the draft, start of fa, os (match or not), trade mid summer, sign long term extension, sign medium term extension 3-5 years, trade start of season (season starts poorly), traded as a pure rental, traded where he would sign longer term, sign and trade, trade with extension in place, etc.

The point is sure this is one outcome that could arise from the situation is. The fact is before we know more about the situation as a whole the better we can do to eliminate some of these other possibilities and make a more realistic agm accordingly.

Not saying your wrong in anyway more just patience is key in theses situations for the teams (wpg getting a return, teams that want him for the right price, teams that would only want him via fa) and through agms in the sense that making agms about a situation that is still months away from occurring is hard to predict as teams situations constantly change making it harder to predict what's to come.
