I dunno man
TBL went from their SCF 2015 Dcore of Hedman, Girardi, Stralman, Coburn, Sustr and i think Dotchin?
Then they Traded Bishop for Cernak(and others) ,Traded Koekkoek for Ruuta , Drouin for Sergachev, Namestnkov in a bundle for Mcdoungh (and others) rebuilding around Hedman only.
They Acquired Shattenkirk , Schenn , Bogosian via Free Agency and Savard via Trade at a high cost.
That's not to mention the others they had in their system during their cup runs they added.
Now "Why did he go through all that" you're probably saying, right?
Well Given most of your core Veteran Leaders are UFA's in the next 2 seasons .
You'd figure showing them you have a plan would be motivation ?
They built a Dcore that has seen Vasilevsky only have to face 40 shots or more 9 times in his career.
They Support him in ways the WPG used to back before Hellebuyck but since you've done to him what MTL did to Price.
Im not saying he wont sign, he might .. Price did.
But i am saying if you want a Cup at all think like TBL
Even if you know you have a SCF dcore , if its not a SC Winning core its not worth keeping.
Because they blew it up their Dcore is set for what atleast another 5-6 years before Hedman might drop off effecting the Dynamic triggering more moves and another Evolution.
Give Them Credit too, everyone thought they were nuts at first especially given all they spent.
After Cal Foote left Vasilevsky if memory serves is the only 1st round pick/player that TBL kept /have .
They spent all the rest trying to get to a cup and i think made 4 finals and won two cups
WPG would have to fire their GM to get one capable of those types of moves in succession with such a high success rate and still look like winners in the trade despite what they gave up at the time always seeming really high.
